Mostly people don’t cook grits long enough. Yeah I know they can be ready in 5 minutes but that’s not the kind that people want. You have to slow cook them stirring a lot and adding water. No sweetness for this boy but salt is a must. Adding things that you like just makes them better....butter, cheese, bacon, skrimps, the limits has no end.
Being in the south you’d think everyone can do them right, that’s not the case. Same thing w a different meal at any different location.
It is funny when you ask for grits and see the expression like you wear asking for something crazy. On that same line it’s frustrating when you want something and that local has no clue what it is. When we travel we will bring things that we know we can’t pick up in a store.
