Cultural Appropriation.

The first motherfucker that says jelly, sugar or honey in grits gets the ban hammer. šŸ˜… Add salt, pepper, butter that's it. My wife kept adding honey to hers. Now the salt, pepper and butter gets added in the pot.

Butter with straight grits...

Shrimp and grits is awesome.... Lots of food trucks serve it and itā€™s a go too when weā€™re out and about....

My wifeā€™s grandmother was from New Jersey and got her eating sugar in her grits. I told her donā€™t get my sons doing that nasty shit. Thankfully all my boys eat grits the correct way.

Mostly people donā€™t cook grits long enough. Yeah I know they can be ready in 5 minutes but thatā€™s not the kind that people want. You have to slow cook them stirring a lot and adding water. No sweetness for this boy but salt is a must. Adding things that you like just makes them better....butter, cheese, bacon, skrimps, the limits has no end.

Being in the south youā€™d think everyone can do them right, thatā€™s not the case. Same thing w a different meal at any different location.

It is funny when you ask for grits and see the expression like you wear asking for something crazy. On that same line itā€™s frustrating when you want something and that local has no clue what it is. When we travel we will bring things that we know we canā€™t pick up in a store.

I would never. šŸ˜‚

And there ain't no such a thing as northern grits Dave. Lol. I made them at deer camp one year to go with breakfast. You should have seen the look on guys faces when the opened the pot. Nobody had a clue what they were.

No such thing as southern grits either, but here we are. Us ā€œnorthernā€ folk like to save some of the sugar from our tea and put it other places. You ā€œsouthernā€ folk just like to add so much to your tea that your body just canā€™t take anymore. šŸ˜‚
