Guys, I’m still working...really hard.

I have been wanting a cap for my pickup for a while but not wanting to pay the price for a new one to stick atop my 17 year old truck lol. I scoured all the secondary markets for a while and finally found one cheap from a feller down in WV. Drove down and picked it up earlier this month. It won’t win any beauty contests but I was looking for functionality and, in that regard, she’s solid. First thing I did was add a 3rd brake light and wire it in with a disconnect wiring harness for easy removal of the cap when necessary. I’ve got a bunch of ideas for what I’m gonna do with it, one being able to use it as a Gypsy camper of sorts without completely losing the use of it as a truck. I built a platform for throwing an air mattress on that still allows for storage underneath. The whole setup can be quickly disassembled by removing a few screws. Next on the agenda will be running power back from the battery and installing a fuse block for led lighting, 12V fan, charging port, etc. I suddenly have plenty of time on my hands to get this stuff done lol. Sorry @Jackalope , can’t see the Salt Life sticker anymore 😂

Nice score and plan Issac. You think you'll use it enough to justify a small solar panel and standalone 12v battery in the back? Would help to not strain vehicle system and provides redundancy.

I love looking at these builds online, some pretty creative shit out there. Shit that my grandpa sleeping in a freezing truck bed on an old mattress in 0* weather on a logging road in the Allegheny NF in PA in December would have given his left nut for😂

Yes I’ve definitely considered that! A stand alone 12v battery in the bed under the platform feeding the fuse block charged by a portable/quickly deployable solar panel. They are crazy cheap and, like you said, completely independent of the vehicle’s electrical system. The initial investment cost of an additional battery would certainly be worth it in the long run.

Looks great Isaac. I love my truck cap.

Bathroom facelift began today. Project thread is a good place for the pics. 14yrs since anything has been done in this bathroom. It was ready. She's even getting a new door. Building cabinet. Lots of stuff but nothing is really exotic. Fairly simple facelift. Flooring. Paint. New trim and door. Same tub and vanity.

Neighbor was cleaning out his basement yesterday and delivered me some goodies this AM that have only been collecting dust or don't work any longer. Told him to drop em off and I'll tear into them late morning. The best being a barely used Coleman Powerhouse 413H stove. Man they just don't build em like this anymore!

Well a few o-rings later in the original red tank cap and generator (pump/delivers fuel from tank to burners), we are in business with some fresh gasoline🤘

Been banging away on old fence, trees, landscaping, etc. With the new roof, gutters, and shutters, we've bumped up the curb appeal a good bit since moving it. Next steps are painting trim and installing a new front door with storm door. I'm ordering 12 tons of 57s in the next month or so, which will be a big boost. Once the dog kennel is built, I can remove the little fence and it'll really open up behind the house. Much needed spring cleanup weekend!
