Clayton Moore..... This being stuck in the house has us watching more tv.. Been catching up on old western's.....LOL

But back to the topic at hand... Just a thought on face masks... Again just a thought... I wonder if when wearing a mask where you might come in contact with people, such as grocery shopping, if prior to going into store you hit mask with a fine mist of water... Will this possibly prevent more particles from entering???

I would think adding water to an environment already wet from your breath would have little effect other than encouraging things to grow there.

I don't want to get into an argument and I thank you for your well thought out response, Joe. My opposition to masks for everyday use is due to the fact that the n95 mask will filter out 95% of things larger than 300 nm. A coronavirus particle is 120 nm. Its like trying to filter a softball with a basketball hoop.

As for the healthcare providers wearing masks....why do they swab the injection site of someone undergoing lethal injection? Because its protocol and its habit. They also have to protect themselves against other pathogens that the mask WILL filter. So, in an environment where you will encounter all manner of pathogens on a daily basis it makes sense to wear it. It will also provide protection from being spat upon.

As usual, these disagreements are over where to draw the line. I think the hassle and false sense of security of masks and gloves outweighs their usefulness and I don't think they are particularly effective at filtering virus particles. I would assume you draw the line on the other side and that's fine. I hope you wouldn't support the idea of wearing a full biosuit everywhere even though it would definitely keep you safer than not.
Well it wouldn't hurt you to wear a mask to protect others you may encounter - it would be a simple gesture on your part for the common good even if it only made others feel a little more comfortable like everyone was kicking in or doing their part - just say n

.. also for folks that want to protect others -and- themselves if you have PPE for spraying food plots, etc, herbicide, pesticides etc, those 3M 7502's with replacement filters are the ticket. You can lookup which filter inserts work for viruses online.

I got my second one for the house in early Feb when I posted this COVID-19 was going bad and a video blog with all the necessary items.

Went to the store for supplies for Turkey season (i pre cook meals and vacuum seal them) wore the mask and gloves inside. Hand sanitizer on the credit card after inserting it.

I keep a half gallon 1:10 solution in the truck, dawn/water with a rag in it, i put it in the bed prior to going in, when I bring them out, I rub them down, plastic milk bottles, plastic meat wrappers, chicken, boston butt, bacon etc... the crona virus RNA is surrounded by a thin molecular layer of fat.
Dawn breaks down the fat molecule rendering the virus inert, i.e., can't hurt you. Whe I park I put the washed down in a tub I bring from home, when done I hand sanitizer any part of me that touched anything that didn't come there with me. (Haven't touched the door handle, or anything inside)

I go strip the gloves off, re hand sanitize, and get my keys and head home- not bringing anything back I didn't want. Not giving anything to anybody that didn't want it.

In the military it's not 'working' in MOPP 4 that kills you, it's sloppy DECON after exposure. Exercised that as both Blue cell(player) and White cell ( exercise control, the guy that comes up and says - you're dead) [ Military MOPP briefly explained in this link]

Be well.

I have two of the 5000 series with P95 filters. I follow a similar process as you with the exception that I'll wear a button down shirt and remove it before taking my gloves and mask off and getting back in the vehicle. I put it in a garbage bag in the back. Just one less thing that could potentially be carrying contaminants into my vehicles.. I need some breakaway pants to complete the process. 😅👍

Ohioans Encouraged to Wear Cloth Masks in Public; Governor Signs TeleHealth Executive Order;
New Wi-Fi Hotspot Locator

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and Dr. Amy Acton, MD, MPH, today urged Ohioans to begin wearing cloth masks while in public, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Yesterday, the CDC issued the recommendation that citizens wear face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain, especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

"In many cultures around the world, wearing a mask is just part of the culture - it is a socially accepted act of kindness," said Governor DeWine. "Wearing a mask should not scare people. It is a good thing. It is a considerate thing. It is a courageous thing."

Wearing a mask will not prevent someone from contracting COVID-19, but it can help prevent them from spreading it to others -- especially if they have it, but are not yet showing symptoms.

Wearing a cloth mask in public is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended. Cloth masks are not a substitute for social distancing, but rather, it is a complement to social distancing.

Guidance on how to make a homemade mask can be found on coronavirus.ohio.gov.

Medical supply masks, such as N95 respirators, must be reserved for healthcare workers, first responders, and those who are known to be sick. Anyone with personal protective equipment to donate to frontline workers. To donate, visit coronavirus.ohio.gov.

If you aren't coming or going. . .and neither is anyone else. . . I sorta doubt you'll need most of the gloves/masks/filters and such. Not to be a dick. Just saying. Once you're all holed up, I would think you are fine.

About-face, now push the propaganda. I don't have an issue with it, but agree, why the direction to not buy and use since day 1? We have seen Asian countries wear them for decades.

I'll be the first to raise my hand and say I have no idea how they are supposed to work in these types of situations. I know when I'm around fumes and dust I should wear one lol.

The entire thing has been shady. Lots of misinformation has been tossed around. Because of that and the ignorance of Americans, we will fail. Tougher times are coming.

When all the city folk infiltrate the rural counties for turkey season, the reality of our situation will smack many in the face. Unfortunately, it will take seveal weeks to be realized and won't be able to be undone.

I strongly believe that this is the exact reason they closed down Hocking Hills. This. Can’t. Be. Stopped.

Quite simply it's my belief they knew their medical services were unprepared from the start and wanted to source every available bit of supply they could. That's why they misinformed people and told them that medical masks like N95 and even surgical masks don't work. All the while they scrambled furiously to buy every single one they could from every corner of the globe. Now that nothing is left they want you to wrap a far less effective old t-shirt around your face.

The number of people turkey hunting that have COVID that will be staying around and interacting with locals is probably a very very tiny number. The local milk delivery guy is a bigger threat.

This all started with a tiny tiny number. Don’t get your mind clogged because you have a special interest here. Only takes one traveler to infect an entire town. Over a stupid bird...

And here comes the effort to fudge the numbers so they justify all the BS crap spewing from the CDC. Any death ASSOCIATED with COVID shall now be listed as death BY COVID. This garbage has got to stop. Shit like this is why I don't listen to a damn thing to come out of the CDC or any govt entity...esp those concerned with the global warming panic.
