DJ is in our firefighter academy for 4 months trying to get a job. Both boys are crabbing today as deckhands. Only thing I’ve been doing is pickling quail eggs and honeydo’s.

Went out for a few hours last night to target some specks, reds and flounder. Not a strike and no bait balls being hit topwater. All this rain and drainage has the inshore fishing all messed up right now. The freshwater inundation has that salinity too low so the fish are farther offshore.

How are you making out bud? Just saw on the local news out of Philly some footage from Slidell, La…..homes were flooded…said you guys got over 10” of rain. Hope your home escaped any water damage.

got some bad news tho, yesterday I received an email from Iowa and we wasn’t drawn for tags. I guess we will go hunt Missouri.

Haven’t posted in some time so here goes.
The past weekend I took the wife to orange beach for an extended weekend.
Yesterday my buddy caught me up and wanted to break his new boat in right so him, myself and Dj loaded up and headed to Venice. We hit the water late and headed to the gulf to rig fish for snapper. Ground swells were good size and before it was said snd done him and I was chumming overboard. Dj hooked up and reeled in a big snapper. Then we caught one and dj finished the limit for us.
We headed out early this morning going to the same rig. Current was running strong and we hooked up on sharks one after the other. Went to two others and same thing. Went back to the first rig and my buddy hooked something real big. We fought it for 1.5 hrs and never seen it till the line popped. Didn’t box any fish today but still had fun.
