Might go up to the UP for grouse in a week or so. Heard it’s wolf county, should it be a big concern with the young pup?
Bo and I made a short trip to the UP with a group of guys…had a blast and moved a lot of birds. I suck at shooting the king of the woods.
Unfortunately our trip got squeezed on both ends due to work/ weather combo.

Much rougher country than what we hunted in the lower…only took a couple pics of the scenery and a couple very busy beavers

Awesome man. I ha e jumped a few grouse deer hunting and often wondered how anyone could shoot one. They come blazing out of there like they were shot from a cannon.
By the time my ears told my eyes where to find them they were already gone! Especially with how dry it was
It’s amazing, I don’t think I was leading them enough

Where did you end up doing most of your hunting? Spent 4 years going to college at the SOO and shot at several grouse, never did kill one.
Dog work was pretty good from the older dogs which was cool to see!

We bounced around a lot, I’m not sure of the closest cities cause they weren’t my spots

Bo and I went after some pheasants today. While we didn’t move any pheasants we did get into a woodcock. Pretty pumped up it was our first wild bird together just us
He did 5.5mi and I did 4.2mi on a 2 hour hunt

Ignorance here... Britney Spaniel, correct? Experience with other dogs? I would love to some day get a bird dog for ducks.
He is a Brittany…I do not have any other experience with other bird dogs besides the ones I’ve hunted with briefly
Bo and I moved 4 or 5 woodcock. We moved the same bird 3 times back and forth over the tree line. Biffed a wide open shot when he finally flew away from the woods. No pheasants.
If he had a better gun hunting over him he would have produced a limit.
