7 hour ride up too Ohio Thursday. 7 hour ride home yesterday, pretty much where she was the whole time. The only bad thing is when you roll down the windows, a flurry of white fur circling around the cab 😂
I literally use the leaf blower inside the cab too remove the heavy stuff 😂

It’s said that the price of a good gun dog is a broken heart at the end. When it comes to Timber, it’s at least four times that amount, probably more. This is absolutely the most difficult part of being a dog owner. Having to make the hard decisions, to schedule a date and time to say good-bye is completely unfair. Yet, it’s also a gift that you’ve given to us because we were able to make these last few days the best they could possibly be.

We couldn’t go hunting, or hiking, or even swimming. Not because you didn’t want to. The want is still there, your drive is still thriving, your spirit is so strong. In the end, it is the physical body that can no longer endure. So we treated you the best way we could. We ate eggs for breakfast, waffles, burgers, chukar, and venison backstraps for dinner. We dressed up your kibble with dog beer, sardines, and all kinds of kitchen scraps. We even took a ride to go get ice cream. We tried to treat you like a king these last precious days.

From the day you joined our family on March 18, 2008, through our last day together April 4, 2022, you gave us your all. You loved us unconditionally. No matter how much pain you may have been feeling, you still greeted us with a smile, a wagging tail, and a genuine excitement just for us being there. So although we mourn today, we know you’re better. You’re able to run, jump, play, and swim just like we can envision when we think back on all the amazing memories we’ve made. I hope we’ve lived up to your expectations Timber, God knows you’ve exceeded ours. We love you Timmy.

She looks so neglected. Seven hour car rides and vacations with her retired daddy. Quit abusing that dog. 😁

Sean- I am so Sorry. Timber was just one of "those dogs". Even if you never met him, you felt like you knew him. Thank you for taking us along for the ride all these years.

Yes. Although Im not a fan of the long haired shepherds
If I was younger, I’d love too have all three and work them, 3 well behaved shepherds would be a helluva goal!

Took Bristol into the vet this morning. While we were in Ohio she took too licking her left front paw. Couldn’t see anything that would cause it and she wasn’t favoring it. Just licked it and I ended up putting a sock over it to get her to stop. She didn’t have anything other then it was raw from her licking it. So the vet verified what we knew. Put her on some Apoquel for a couple weeks. We’ll see if it’s an allergy reaction or not.
But, while there the # of dogs who couldn’t maintain their composure was pretty scary. Especially some of the older folks who their dogs basically dragged them around at will. Bristol just sat there, and I was proud of her that she maintained her composure. Although she does get the shakes while there, always has and even at our vets up in Ohio.

We have to get one of our dogs allergy shots every couple of months….she lets us know when it’s time by licking her paws non stop. Once she gets the shot, she stops licking her paws.

Hopefully this is just a seasonal thing, but this is our second spring down here and she’s never had issues before.
