Yeah, they're all pretty good these days. They have to be to keep up with the market IMO.

With a nice flat yard without many leaves and such, a lower HP motor would be just fine. Then it would be about brand preference.
I've got hills and such, going 54" because anything bigger might have issues per my mother in law and brother in law who do the mowing currently

Dumb question.... what's the advantage/disadvantage of the different engines for the BadBoys?
The Kohler command motors had a pretty bad reputation a couple years ago and the Kawasakis really took off in popularity. The kawasakis just kind of maintained that premium status after the command and command 2 had their issues.

My scag came with the Kawasaki. So far I’ve been happy with it.

Yeah they are great motors, mine have the 31 horse. The only thing I don’t like about my scags is the seat. They have a pivoting platform under the seat to make it smoother but I much prefer the air ride seats. Other than that I have no complaints. 👍

I’m about too swap mine out with an air ride if I can find a decent deal on it. I agree, seat is very basic for what a scag fetches. My buddy has the cub cadet with an air ride, I don’t mind when he’s out of town and I cut his grass at all 😂

Make sure the base fits. Some of the models are built different so you can't upgrade without upgrading the mower itself.

What height do you guys mow at? First mow was at 3, I raised it to 3.25 today.
First cut was a 3.5” a few days. Today I hit it again and mowed at 3.0”… mainly because I wasn’t sure if I’d have time to mow before next weekend. Just trying to stay ahead of it.

I'd recommend measuring blade height on cement. Physically lay down and measure the blade height and see how it compares to your marks. They all measure a little different. One mower may be 3" measured but the mark showing you what height you are might say 3.5". Depends on dealer set up. Even if the dealer has it dialed in as close as possible, it may vary by 1/4 or 1/2". We have two identical 2021 mowers that cut the same height but only if we set the decks on different height settings to hit that 3" mark.

I'll add to make sure to do that on both sides too Some of them aren't adjusted good and even tire pressure has a pretty good impact.

Great point. Different tire pressures from left to right WILL change height from one side of the deck to the next. Overall lower or higher pressures can make deck adjustment marking differ from actual cutting height.

Whatever lift you get, pay particular attention too the saddle where the front tires sit. Make sure the width and depth is sufficient. As you jack it up some lifts will actually walk the tires right outta the saddle

This is what my dealer recommended. $130 at Harbor Freight. But I like the electric winch idea. I may hold out for that option instead.
