We've had ODNR members tell us they'll drop the herd until hunter numbers drop and then just raise tag prices because "we ain't that smart" as a whole

I just got home from a controlled gun hunt at Killdeer Plains, CWD hot spot. That place is shot out, I don't think I heard 5 gun shots, we left about 1:00, the DOW guys working the hunt said 1 deer had been shot today, they also said that during that early gun season that he couldn't believe the number of vans dropping the amish off to hunt. I hunted there in January of 2021, the DOW gave everyone at check in 4 additional buck tags, they wanted those deer shot for testing.

So here 2 weeks ago when It was snowing and raining so hard you couldn't see 5 feet in front of you for hours I got up to go to work , had to wait to pull out of my driveway for an Amish buggy at 1015 pm . Got behind him went to pass and there was a deer carcass in the back of the buggy skinned out already . I call bs that was a legal kill. They won't even stand in the weather at an auction anymore and he was in his normal work clothes . Call it as you will it doesn't affect alot of places but my two spots I've been hunting since I was 13 have been destroyed by them and it gets worse every year . Especially the ones trespassing after the warden at the time said sorry it's a lost cause. If this passed it will make it worse for some of us. Not all of us. Anyways I'm ranting and probably sound like an ass but when you see the stuff first hand it's hard not to. I still think it's a bad idea for what it's worth.
Just ask Rick @xbowguy how many they have not recovered this year to be seen alive at a later date. Crazy!

They don't care about anything. They screwed my neighbor over this past fall with his property sale. They have a new tactic to put everyone out in auctions around here. One of them puts in the top bid while his buddy sits back. Come pay up time they top bidder backs out and seller has the option to accept the second highest bidder who is the top bidders buddy . Top bidder backs out at 19.5 an acre and then his buddy says nah chust not worth it I'll give you 10 an acre. Lawyer says most they can get out of them for the auction breach is 5-10k . The English guy that bid 18 an acre is already out of the picture from the auction loss and now you're stuck with trying to fight the "protected" scums In court or having to keep the old property for five years to keep a farm credit on the new property when you should've had the money to not worry about it from the beginning . 4-5 auctions straight in a row around here same tactic and nothing done about it.
Changing the topic here but i have to add this, whild I agree in general about the Amish, i'm going to keep it real. There are PLENTY of non-amish who don't obey the law, are skum bags and decimate wildlife populations as well. Whacking and stacking deer are not unique just to Amish. Deer populations in my area were already being decimated well before the Amish moved in.
Let's take that a step further. People suck!

Boy you HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD with that statement... Here in Jersey we don't have any Amish so to speak, yet the deer herd here has been decimated... This mainy has been caused by mis-management by the game commission... You cannot have deer seasons from early Sept. through Mid-Feb with very, very liberal bag limits... Some guys shoot unlimited amounts of does just cause they can.. I would classify them as SERIAL KILLERS with no respect for wildlife... Then they bitch about the lack of deer and are out the last day of the season in late Feb ON DOE PATROL ??? Give the deer a break already.... So yes every walk of life has scum bags...

To add to my point.... Come Archery season you will see alot of vehicles from New Hampshire, Vermont etc. parked along roads... I've stopped to bullshit with a few... I've made the statement: " You guys really must love to hunt driving down here every year " Their reply is always: WHERE ELSE CAN I SHOOT THIS MANY DEER...I FILL MY FREEZER AND MY NEIGHBORS EVERY YEAR.....
Very true. I've killed the minimal amount of does possible every year. Im required to kill them on one property i hunt but in the 20+ years we have owned property I've killed a total of ZERO does off our property. Zilch. None. I don't condemn people who enjoy killing does but its never sat right with me personally. If we had too many deer it may be different but I've never felt that to be the case, and it certainly isn't now. And now I'm gonna say this. Beef taste better then deer anyways, and is likely much cheaper! There's also no more need for a 4 month archery season then there is any more days of gun season. I've always thought it kind of ridiculous to still be hunting deer in February. Again just my personal opinion and not necessarily right or wrong.

I'll agree with that. However I suppose locations are different everywhere. If I picked 10 non amish and 10 amish and kept 24/7 surveillance on both groups for a month here and Gave them both separate acreage to hunt I'd run out of paper trying to keep track of the wrong doings from the Amish group. I'm not perfect not even close probably the farthest from it ... But I'll call a spade a spade. I've been around them my whole life. I will say one thing . The Amish I encounter now are nothing like the ones I grew up with . If I had the choice I'd love to have the ones back I grew up with and worked with. Even spent the night at ones house in highschool and attended their partys. Used to be real close to the community around here. Now it's like a bunch of strangers in a very bad way. I will say that I live in a really small town so maybe that has something to do with it but most of us are on the same ethical page as each other.

Because he refused to answer very direct, straightforward, easy-to-answer questions. I gave him every opportunity in the book to answer one simple question about who was pushing for what and he refused to answer. He very plainly said it wasn't his role to answer our questions, rather ask questions and then report back to the board. I told him it wasn't a one way street. If he wanted opinions from TOO then I expectcept it to go both ways. He refused and I had enough. This isn't the place to push a chosen propaganda narrative.
