Wild afternoon on my road. There's multiple houses with minor shingle damage, but the green house is the neighbor next door to the N and the barn is the neighbor next door to the S. I heard it hit the barn and immediately changed clothes to head over. He's always in the barn, so I was worried he and/or the horses were inside. Thankfully, only the barn was harmed. I had an hour to spare before a family function, so I helped him get the most of his hay moved and some of the tree cleaned up. Going to be tens of thousands of claims across that state. We still had power when we left, but no cell service or cable/internet. I'm nervous as hell about the camper. It's in a terrible spot on a windy know. 😬

What’s with the roof shingles on the house coming up like that? Don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that before…..

I've seen it happen is smaller sections, never like this. My guess is that since that side sees sun all day, they're well adhered to one another, combine that with a run of bad nails/nailing and it might lead to this. I'm wondering if that white underlayment contributed to it.

That’s what I was wondering also. I’m seeing a lot of that underlayment down here.

Could've been a number of things but I'm gonna say short nails.
So they ended up reroofing the whole house after they came to inspect the failure. It wasn't short nails, but they had the pressure too high on the gun and blew most of the nails through the shingles. The guy who owns the roofing company has since fired the lead roofer due to needing to reroof "a bunch" of houses.

I figured it was some sort of nail failure. Only explanation other than the wood being junk. The underlayment looked new still and not discolored. (Disgruntled emoji because they charge way too much for stupid mishaps)

My cousins in Defiance had some poles down and power outages. Otherwise good.

We ended up with tornado warnings in Celina and heading our way. Woke up the wife and son. They were like "wake me up if it gets closer." It cut the distance in half in about 5-10 min and I was like "You NEED to get in the basement. I'll be on the porch watching." 🤣

I did slide basement window open to listen. Definitely had the tornado wind sounds. Freight train sounds momentarily. Maybe a few minutes. I slid it shut quickly and moved back to the basement section with no windows.

No major damage in my quick walk about. Didn't go out by the buildings. No people or animals out there. Just stuff.

Now hearing reports (on the TV news live weather reporter) of potential tornado damage by Amherst and Schooler Roads. I have a cousin out that way. Sounded like a shed or garage torn apart. Scary stuff.

2am was rowdy! Gonna finish this cup of Joe and go assess and pick up the little things. Deer feeder is knocked over, wife's front porch chair pillows are in the back corner of the property, my temp. downspouts on the back of the barn are gone, driveway is 50% under water at the moat crossing.

Hope everyone is good and no damage. Get ready for rd2 at 12pm today. I've had enough of this rain and wind!
