I stopped over on my work trip last week to NC at Stone Mountain State Park. Pretty cool place, lots of streams in the area. The water was low, slow, and tap-water clear. That combination makes for spooky fish that are hard to catch. I had to work hard to earn every take I got.

My stop on the way down was pretty short, only fishing for a few hours. I came back home after the Friday conference on Saturday, so I got up early to be at the park when it opened at 8AM. I fished a small stream with some wild browns. It fished even tougher than what I fished on Thursday. Extremely tight quarters, spooky fish, slow flows.

My fat ass went through there. Not easily. There was a juicy little run on the upper side of it, where I caught nothing.

These little minnows attacked the dry nearly every cast, and only a couple actually got hooked. Pretty little suckers.

On the way out of the park, before coming home, I hiked over to see Stone Mountain. It's not visible from the roads.

There's an old homestead at the base of the mountain.
