I don’t know, didn’t pop the hood. Will check it out after the hunt. Hopefully it’s something simple snd easy to fix. I will update w answers or questions later.
That’s why I bought a new truck. Every year was a month payment in repairs. It’s got almost 400k on it ole 7.3. Wife said to buy a new one cause I go on trips. Took me 2 years to pull the trigger because of the price. Now they are almost double than what I paid in 18. And that was double than what I paid in 99.

Just got busted by a good doe. Wind was perfect and I never moved. She looks up and game over. That don’t happen in the Midwest.

I’m above the second story mr telephone man! My pull up rope is 26’ and I had 23-24 used from my seat. Them palmettos are 5’ tall. I just set up wrong, most of the trees were too big for my grand ol man stand. Hb said walk in 110 yards and set up. Trust me I picked out the tree from the tree I was in and confirmed once I got down.
We didn’t hunt this evening, instead we worked on hunters truck. Power steering hose busted at the pump. Not easy w half ass shit tools and 2 trips to the auto part store 30 minutes away.
On a brighter note, we got a fire going, music playing and deer backstrap fajitas marinating in the fridge. Most people are just getting off work. Sucks for them.
Tomorrow is a new day, new spot and anything can happen. Hb’s buddy Cody, and his gf “cricket” will all be hunting this weekend. Also have a new stand to put up on property.

Just got back from tracking a doe Cody shot. Quartering to and lots of blood. We are after dark and went to track. Had pearl tracking w a cow bell and light around her neck. She took off as we tracked and could hear her. She jumped the deer cause you usually does a “spooked bark”when a deer jumps out it bed. The bell got lower and lower until now none of us could hear her. Inside I was panicking. Told Cody to back track to his stand, I was going to the road and hunter took off deeper and n the woods. She’s trained to come to whopping like when you’re driving deer dogs. Well that wasn’t working. Hunter made it to the road and truck, got on the atv and blazed out to ride down to the pipeline. When he took off I could hear her bell and I yelled for her. Cody caught her at his tree and I had to wait for hunter to look at his phone so he would know. We loaded up and came back to the camp. She won’t be tracking without a tracking collar ever. That’s even if I let her track at all again. I don’t care.
we all gonna make a quick squirrel hunt in the morning then go put up the stand and fix another that’s leaning because the legs are sinking in. Then hopefully get in stand before noon for the midday movement as it’s the new moon tomorrow and they will move mid day and later.

J it was, to me she is my kid. Would’ve been a long night in the woods and next days until I’d find her. Luckily, 99% of hunting dogs will back track, which she did.
I learned a long time ago when we used to run deer dogs and hog dogs, when you can’t find them and leaving the area, put your jacket or shirt on the ground where you started. At some point your dog will return and be laying on the clothes you put down. Seen it many times. But, but, Pearl is no hound to me, she’s my baby. Ain’t no way I’d leave out there and would use every resource available to me. When people find trained labs, some will not return them. Yes she has a collar w my name and number on. I’m just glad it’s over and I think her tracking days are numbered. Not that she’s a great tracker anyway, she has too muck duck dog in her.

As a guy that's coon hunted and trained young pups I know that feeling very well, glad you got her.
And to your later post about people stealing dogs we had that happen too. We threw two dogs out that had trackers and a name collar. One was a younger dog that we were training. Unbeknownst to us about a mile away some other guys were hunting and had one treed. That younger dog went to them because he was still piggybacking other dogs and hadn't learned to do it on his own yet. We found the collars and no dog. They probably thought they had the older dog which was a fantastic dog with a lot of ribbons to his name and people knew it. Luckily they only got that counterfeit pup.
. He wasn't going to cut it anyway so really they did us a favor.

I had a beagle that took off on me years ago….someone told me to put down my jacket where we dropped them off at the beginning of the hunt. Next morning at first light I was back and she was curled up on top of my jacket. Wouldn’t of believed it if I didn’t see it with my own eyes.
I was schooled on dropping the jacket trick also, old coon Hunter buddy of mine told me about it. Luckily all those years of running beagles I never had too do it….
There were times the dogs got out of earshot, that 10-15 minutes of quietness is something only a few understand. But then they open up or show back up and you know all is good in the world once again…..

Hunter found his hog this morning and took a pic. We didn’t draw blood this morning.

Hunter went to the camp yesterday. I was scheduled to have my colonoscopy this morning. Hb text me asking why the cam took a pic this morning. I said I don’t know, he said cause that pig ain’t gonna make it. Lol that boy loves to draw blood.

Hunter dropped a second doe this evening. Scouted all morning then hung a set.
I hunted w Blake walking in the nwr w 22 mag. Blake shot a hog and it ran off. I seen 30 squirrels. After we went to the property to finish djs stand.
cut a single man ladder stand to make a ladder and platform for the stand. Pull cards and have a bunch of decent bucks but nothing I want to kill, as of now.
