The Farm w/ No Name - Habitat Projects

Sounds like a good plan, that's exciting for you. Feel free to reach out anytime I'd be glad to give whatever advice I can. Remember it's a marathon with native plantings. It's good that you are already starting to plan.

    Wild flower patch

I've told many folks they are marketing CRP all wrong. They need to advertise it as deer cover and food, and they would get much more sign-ups. Put a picture of a big buck on brochures and seed bags. The bees, butterflies, and Quail don't care why it's growing, they only care that it's there...

    US Healthcare is failing us

That was kind of my point I was making. If your poor and unemployed it's free. If your rich you can buy excellent private coverage. It's many of the working class folks that suffer. Being self employed I personally pay a lot of money for a plan that is subpar. It's expensive enough that I don't...

    US Healthcare is failing us

Also how about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Those all depend on being healthy.

    US Healthcare is failing us

I don't suggest a socialized system. I'm just stating what we have doesn't work. I don't have a fix, but would think one of the many smart guys in our political system would by now. One thing I do know is that it's not Obamacare. Good healthcare for everyone in our country may not be a...

    US Healthcare is failing us

It's not affordable, not even close. I know the graphic is about obesity, but it spans farther then that. Choosing between receiving quality medical care and buying groceries isn't a choice that any hard working family should ever have to make in a developed country, let alone " the greatest...

    US Healthcare is failing us

Lots of issues at play here. But I do believe we are one of the most unhealthy developed countries in the world. And we have a Healthcare system to match it.

    Wild flower patch

Giles, call me sometime on this. You'll want proper site preparation and seeding, as well as seed mixture. Theres definitely a wrong way and right way to go about this. Too much for me to type right now.

    Honey suckle destruction

I've found that at the end of the day sometimes nature just does whatever the hell it wants. There have been times when I've done everything 100% by the book and come back later in the year and the invasives I have been working on were resprouting like crazy. Then ill go check another job where...

    Honey suckle destruction

Most all problems in our natural world are traced back to mankind. We create the problems then act like disciples when we try to solve the problems we created. Much like our government.

Those may also be seedlings. Try pulling them up by hand after this rain. If the root pulls out with them then they are likely seedlings. If it breaks off when gently pulled, then likely root sprouts.

    Honey suckle destruction

There are a lot of chemicals that will work. The most readily available is a slightly diluted glyphosate mixture (with water). Avoid spring time for best results.

    Honey suckle destruction

The main trunk itself will die back, its the sprouts that it sends up across its root system to watch out for. We use hack and squirt method as it kills it more gradually and doesn't send it into "shock". The fact of the matter is even when done by the book, Tree of Heaven will often send up...

It will likely root sprout if cut even with herbicide. They are known for this. So just be prepared.

    Honey suckle destruction

It's definitely Ailanthus aka Tree of Heaven. If it's small you can foliar spray, cut and treat or sometimes pull it (if seedlings) otherwise mature trees should be kill via hack and squirt method if they are not in danger of falling over a building or trail. A good app you can use is called...

Be sure to look up ....

Another night of darkness here. Even tried the camera shutter speed last night. Skies were 100% clear and many stars out. Oh well.

We were under a cloud then as it was unspectacular here. Maybe tonight.

    Clinton county giant?

I have to imagine there are some "smart poachers" too...who shoot their big buck then just shut the fuck up. But what fun would that be if they couldn't brag? I think most poachers have a narcissistic personality disorder to go along with their eggs for brains. I'm finding it really hard to give...
