    Raccoon trapping bait

With raccoons and really any other critter we trap, location is 95% of the battle. Raccoons are such gluttons, normally, that if you put the traps where you see fresh sign of raccoons, it really doesnt matter much what kind of bait you use. Theres some exceptions to this but not many.

    Bear?

Does look like a bear's ear there Bears, especially you males without a home will travel long distances. Been a while now but WVDNR caught a nuisance bear and released it(outside pt pleasant IIRC). It was radio collared and I think it made it upto zanesville where it was recaptured and send...

    Scent control products tested

What I tell new guys getting into coyote trapping...unless you are going to put on a fully sealed hazmaz suit and UV sterilize it every time you get out of the truck, you are going to give off scent. The body sloughs off thousands of skin cells every minute. Plus the body oils, sweat...

    CGM Foot Loops....Amazing!

In that application, the quick link there isnt being used as a life support device. Ive ground hunted deer for 20 years. Pretty much all private. Some of my best spots are getting impossible to hunt from the ground if you except to shoot anything other than squirrels and chipmunks. Course ive...

    Not running any cams

Dont need to use corn to run a camera...The value of hunting for me is to reduce the cost of the food bill. I prefer to let the farmers feed the deer. Plus the bait piles just announce to any fellow hunters or trespassers where your spots and equipment out. There are some sneakier ways to feed...

    Otters

That section of raccoon is probably the best chance of snagging an otter. Unfortunately both times I've drawn the place the weather was horrible.

    Otters

There are otter all over the Hocking River, especially Athens. If you get out onto the sand bars on the river, they're littered with otter sign and the remains of hundreds of mussels that they've eaten

    Selling furs

Another thing with coyotes and bringing them in hole .. most guys just don't like skinning them. They skin best when they're still warm. When cold, its like trying to take something apart that was superglued. Hence a lot of guys have skinning machines.

    Selling furs

Coyotes a bit hit and miss as to whether they have value or not. You could have a $20 coyote in this market or a 50 cent coyote. Having decent fur on a coyote is a big factor, lot of the southern Ohio coyotes are flat and not worth much. Occasionally we get some well furred ones. And they've...
