    Feed/Bait ban coming?

People make planting corn harder than it needs to be. Actually growing any crop really because they look at commercial/industrial farming snd try yo replicate it. Food plots especially here in southern Ohio where some things don't quite all go dormant snd stay green most of the winter, provide...

    Feed/Bait ban coming?

Council meeting was Wednesday and the proposals haven't been posted yet on DoW website yet. Didn't really hear much chatter from the meeting. Sometimes all the proposals dont come out at the first meeting so they could come out anytime between now and the next meeting in February

Field dressing - break the pelvis or no?

Processing my own deer I dont split the pelvis at all. I debone everything and age in the fridge so im not worried about a bit of intestine/colon. Occasionally ill saw the pelvis when hanging to finish deboning on the table but usually dont.

LIVE! From the Stand 2022-2023 Edition

Had 3 bucks under me before 8. Just got my pack up when the first buck popped up within spitting distance. Seen about 15 deer so far. Buck tag already filled and the two does also in spitting distance were too small. Got a nice doe hanging out 300yds away stm

    Calling all trappers

The point for them is the damage to the farm. The mink are just collateral damage to activist. They hate humans more than they love animals

    Calling all trappers

I'm sure some of them will make it to market. Several will probably end up as wall hangers. Likely arent quite primed yet so the prices wouldn't be good on the general fur market. I think last year ranch mink were in the 20-40 dollar range at the SAGA sale

    Calling all trappers

Its surprising whats not in the books. Had a few interesting calls with law enforcement at DoW on some interesting nuisance trapping issues. Civil laws are another issue entirely

    Calling all trappers

They're just mink. Just highly bred to be the size of small otter and a variety of colors. As for control, theyre more or less fair game under normal hunting/trapping rules though technically you can't shoot mink that aren't in traps.

    Ugly Stick Knife?

Ugh. No. Too big, not pointy. Never was a fan of the half serrated knives or guy hooks. Kinda a utility knife that isnt really good at anything

    EHD

I vaguely remember that Mike said that at some meeting I was at. Been a while and all these meetings have blurred together. Unfortunately there really isnt a a practical way to get it, at least not from a government agency perspective.

    EHD

I've been saying for a while you have to go almost to a township by township level of management because EHD and other issues(habitat and agriculture) can have drastically different populations. Parts of my county you cant not see a deer, others are fairly barren. My farmers that I hunt on...

    EHD

I don't think southern ohio could take much more reduction in deer limits outside of public lands. EHD is too spotty so one size limit reductions will be horrible on grounds not suffering from EHD.

    EHD

Not quite sure what you think the DoW can do about EHD unless you think they can control rainfall and drought. I suppose they could go around applying insecticide to evey body of water and potential mudhole.

    Coon Be Gone

Their tick eating is purely accidental. You want rid of ticks? Kill the possums so they dont they eggs of things that actually do purposely eat ticks. The study that led to the possums eat tick think is a crock if you read it.
