Great lookin bucks there shwacker! I went and pulled a card behind my house tonight and had an old beast step back into my life. I had this deer show up in early December last year and stay in the area. I always bait my backyard deer, run a camera to see what’s there, and generally never hunt...

The thermacell is on the agenda for tonight. The bugs haven’t been bad in there the last couple seasons but we’ve gotten enough rain lately to apparently make a difference. Hoping for a doe tonight or Wednesday!

I was out yesterday evening with a buddy and my wife. We hunt in a lottery program for the first 5 weeks of season and try to put a few does in the freezer. No one saw a thing and the mosquitos were relentless. I’m going to try to get out Tuesday and Wednesday depending on how warm it’s gonna...

    When's your rut vacation?

November 8-18 will be my vacation this season. In the last 5 seasons I’ve found that later is by far superior in my area. I saw mature bucks last season on Nov 10,11,12,14,16.

    Westbranch help

I hate to be ‘that guy’ but I would look at other places over West Branch. NE Ohio is rough as far as public land goes. Not a lot of land so there’s a whole lot of people utilizing it. If you are going to hunt West Branch or other public land in this area, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a...

    200 acres Ohio your pick

Not my best year but my wife picked up a slob very close to home. I had him on cam after rut until he shed near the end of March. Only showed his face a couple times during daylight towards the end of march. Hoping he is still out there and will grow a more symmetrical set of antlers this year...

    200 acres Ohio your pick

That’s a hard decision to make. My first instinct is to go urban which is what I typically hunt. I believe an urban setting often allows bucks to get to a higher age class as long as they stay away from cars. That being said, I began hunting in SE Ohio and I miss the bigger woods. No dogs...

    Climbing sticks opinions

Dan Infalt is supposed to be releasing some sticks very very soon. I know nothing about how they’ll work or what they even look like but he designed them to be exactly what he wants which I’m sure will work great for other people. I believe they’ll be available on the hunting beast website...

    hunting land

The summit metro parks hunt is a lot of fun, good luck. I’ve hunted in it the last 4 years. I have almost 5 acres not far from you in Green. It’s a weird situation because the lot is only 50 yards wide but super deep. that being said, the neighbors on both sides are cool with me tracking if I...

    Iks...finally...better late than never...

I’m doubtful that anyone found the other side. The whole place is like a deer playground so it could realistically be anywhere or on neighboring properties. I forgot to include that at one point last spring I had texted the landowner about coming out and looking for sheds and he said I was...

    Iks...finally...better late than never...

So I finally filled my buck tag this season. This is the first buck I’ve been fortunate enough to harvest that I’ve built a little history with. It started this past spring when I kept texting the property manager about coming out and looking for some sheds. He kept telling me it was fine if I...

    Which week in November?

I would do the 13-18. I have seen bucks chasing the later week but you are much fewer and far between at that point. 10-15 is hard to beat. Period.
