    Salt Fork Golf Course

You very well may be correct on the pressure aspect. The area they allow you to hunts kind of smack dab in the middle of the park. It's a couple thousand acres surrounding the marina, beach, and lodge that are typically off limits to all hunting might not be a bad call to wait until that temp...

    Salt Fork Golf Course

Interesting. We saw one car parked at the golf shop, a truck in the small lot on the opposite side of the road down a little from the course, and we parked at the golf course maintenance area. I didn't pay attention to if the vehicles we saw had tags in the windows. I may try to go down there...

    Salt Fork Golf Course

I was there yesterday for an evening hunt. We arrived a little early so we walked the course just a tad to see what kind of sign was in the area. Saw a guy walk into one of the draws with a crossbow so we figured we'd better get into the woods. Poop and tracks everywhere on the course on the way...

    Salt Fork Golf Course

Curious if you ran into any other hunters while you were there and how close to the golf course you ended up hunting? I have a friend that has been drawn in years past and said everyone gets all hot and bothered about the course.

    Salt Fork Golf Course

Myself, my wife, and a buddy of mine all got drawn for the hunt in there but haven't had a chance to get in there yet. We were waiting until after gun when the north and south section are both open. My inlaws live in Cambridge so we plan to hit it a couple weekends in January and stay at their...

    Team 12 up and running

Finally had some quality movement again yesterday. Sat all day and saw deer from 11:30 on, including multiple nice bucks. Between a swirling wind, assholes yelling at the gun range on the neighboring property, And the landowner taking a spin on his four wheeler at the exact wrong time, it...

Well, I'm there with the rest of you guys. Had a stellar night on Friday with a hot doe in the area and sightings of two good bucks, but before that and after that, it's been dead. Rut is always hit or miss but it seems like mostly miss for me this year. Im not even seeing little bucks cruising...

    2017 Rut Report. County, Conditions.

It was an awesome evening in Stark county last night. Must've been a hot doe bedded on the field edge and a herd of bucks were interested in her. There were a bunch of 1 and 2 year olds and two shooters. Watched them run all evening through the binos. Wind was too swirly to make any sort of move...

    2017 Rut Report. County, Conditions.

Do you usually have success taking your bowcation that early in the rut? I know it can vary depending on where you're at in the state but I tend to see the best action or at least the most mature cruising bucks much later than this. On the farm I primarily hunt in NE Ohio, the action in past...

    Tracking advice

Are there any close water sources? I would check them before giving up completely.

    2017 Rut Report. County, Conditions.

I was in Denial about all the crazy chasing and what not I've been hearing about. Today at work I saw 3 bucks running a doe hard. Smallest was Probly 120". Also found a place where the ground, leaves, and moss were destroyed and it looked like the buck fight of all buck fights took place. So...

Had what I believe is a nice 2 year old chase a couple does past me last night At 30 yards. I didn't make any attempt to stop him as I'm looking for something a little bigger. He's the bigger buck in the pic

I've been out a few times with nothing to show for it. I've gotten a few pics of good bucks in the evening over the last week or so. This is my first year using cell cams and I kick myself every time I get pics of one near my stand. I'll be out all weekend unless it's pouring rain.

    Salt fork state park

When will you be hunting? I haven't actually hunted salt fork but I have scouted it several times and was also drawn for the controlled hunt they do there so I'll be spending a couple weekends down there later this season. I wasn't blown away by deer sign but I haven't been too deep in there...

    Team 12 up and running

So i ended up getting the picc line in Friday instead of after the first weekend so that screwed up my plans. I did go sit out in the woods though so I 'technically' didn't miss the first day. My wife, dad, and buddy all took deer on the evening of opening day and I saw 4 as well. We are hunting...

Really sorry for your loss Phil. At least you haven't long your sense of humor through rough times haha. Better keep that wife happy so you have more time to spend in the woods once the hunting gets good. I will be hunting hard early...meaning the first 3 or 4 days. I have to get a pick line...

    2017-2018 Season Goals thread

I'm glad to see everyone's priorities are so in line. this will be my 3rd season hunting in a Metroparks hunt where I usually kick the season off putting way too much pressure on myself to slay deer to get the invite back for next year. Then I follow the doe slaying with putting a bunch more...
