    Nicks 2017 Shed thread

Thanks everyone, I am in NE Ohio for those wondering. The deer in the immediate area around my house typically hold their antlers until late as well so I'm not sure what's going on with it this year. As for my wife, she's no stranger to the deer woods and she's become quite the little hunter...

    Nicks 2017 Shed thread

Alright, I've never had the shed hunting skills or luck to post anything like this but this shed season started off with such a bang that I'm going to take the plunge and hope for the best. Last Sunday was the first serious shed hunt of the season. I packed up the wife and the dog and we headed...

    Jet Sled's....

I love my jet sled. My boss turned me into them last year and my parents ended up getting me one for Christmas. Definitely the best way to haul firewood when the snows on!

    Neighbors- doe slaying

I have had very consistent problems over the years with hunting with and around people that have opposing ideas and methods to what I have. I imagine many people deal with the same thing. I have been passing does on my main property for the last 5 years because the numbers have been down...

    Deer Management Units

Here's the map. I think it's a great idea and should help more specifically manage deer numbers.

Thinking about moving to Ohio, what part has some of the best hunting?

If you don't have a preference of what part of Ohio you are in, I would recommend looking all over. Being from PA, your probably more used to hilly country. If you head for southeast Ohio, this are more hills and less agriculture. Head to southwest Ohio and your going to have predominantly...

Thinking about moving to Ohio, what part has some of the best hunting?

Kinda depends on how much money you have to play with. There's big bucks all around the cities but with that you will have expensive real estate, trespassers, and more noise than I'd like to deal with. If I had 700 acres, I probably wouldn't make the decision to give that up for 100 acres here.

    A very massy 8

Thanks everyone! I realize some of you guys are confident there are no big bucks in Stark County...but I got him from the same farm I shot my 165" 10 point last year. Here's last years

    Lost confidence...

I'm not a crossbow guy but I did work at TenPoint for a small period of time. Any bows that are made there are awesome but the Horton storm is probably the coolest crossbow I've ever shot. The balance is awesome because the riser being in the middle of the bow doesn't make it so front end heavy...

    Opinions on crossbow hunting

I started with an old Horton crossbow but never took a deer with it. Went to the compound and have killed many deer with it and love hunting with a compound bow. I'm not outwardly against the use of a crossbow, especially for the youth, handicapped, and elderly but for some reason when I see a...

    Morning sits

Most of the people that I would consider big buck slayers start hitting mornings around the 23rd or 25th. I wouldn't hesitate going into your stand if the conditions are perfect and you don't have to go stomping through all kinds of bedding to access the area. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow...

Tips on public hunting land/ would love to trade out hunts for Mississippi for Ohio

That should be perfect, I know many people that swear by the 6th-9th and do all day sits. I was planning on trying some all dayers last year but ended up killing my buck super early so I ended up not hunting as hard during rut. This year, it's game on from the 3rd-15th

    Rage Broadhead Blades

I'd say your golden. I usually replace the blades now but have taken the blades off and sharpened them up in the past with no problem at all

Tips on public hunting land/ would love to trade out hunts for Mississippi for Ohio

I would get here a little earlier if possible. Hitting it perfect is a crap shoot but any time between the 5th and the 15th are the best in my opinion. Like said above, you are also gonna hit youth season if you come that late which often puts a lot of people on public land...including people...

    Chris Pratt on hunting

Just saw this video shared on Facebook. He does a great job verbalizing what we all experience and in a way that may give non hunters a new understanding of what we do. Definitely a quality spokesman for hunters everywhere.
