2012 Coyote Harvest Thread

Coyotes are in trouble tomorrow. This snow is supposed to end at 3 am. I will be out 2 hours before it gets light locating tracks. Hopefully will have a couple located before daylight.

We're headed out at day break to the area where the yotes hammered my cousins during muzzy. He's running the .30-06 and I have the Benelli. It's first hunt with this new caller. I'll do a write up next week on how it performs. In the PM, fuggin' Diablo is teaching me trapping 101. I picked up 4 traps last night, time to lay waste...

Good luck all! Be safe and knock 'em dead!!!

Picked up a foxpro jack in the box decoy today... Hopefully this wind will die down in the morning so we can do some callin... We killed two three weeks ago.

Went out tonight. Made the first stand and the caller went dead. Mine was home charging. We finished the stand with mouth calls. Headed back to the house, grabbed my Foxpro, plugged in my buddy's, and hit it again. All total we made three stands and fired one round. Probably should have waited to fire. The guy with the shotgun tried to make about a 100yd shot because he was feeling antsy being his first hunt with a coyote in sight. lmao

Looking forward to your updates Gern. Something tells me with the snow on the ground you probably had a good weekend!

Yes it was a good weekend. Hunted all day Saturday, ended up killing 3. Went out yesterday morning and killed 3 more before 11'oclock!
Yesterday we had a coyote go into a large creek section. It was just my uncle and I hunting. He stayed on the track of the yote while I went about a mile downstream and posted up in a narrow funnel. He was within a 1/4 mile from me still tracking and all of the sudden a coyote popped out within 20 yds of me and I dropped him with 1 shot......about 20 seconds later a second coyote came running by at about 75 yards, so I pulled up and shot and it rolled, got back up and took off so I shot again. We ended up tracking it about 150 yards and it was laying dead! Must have gotten some in the heart lung area.

A total of 6 coyotes for the weekend and my gun put down 5 of them.

Yeah, we walk a lot of miles in a days time, and it is good excercise at the same time. The worst part of it all is when you kill one in the middle of a section and you have to drag it out.

I am so very impressed Chad! Great job man! You are a killing machine! It's neat to see the different varieties of coat colors those fuggars come in! lol

Congrats and great job!

2 of them from yesterday are beautiful dark males. (bottom 2 in top picture) They were BIG.

I was thinking the same thing. You sure those are full coyotes? Look how long the legs were on the one at bottom of picture! Dang!

Yes, full coyotes. Sometimes they die with their legs straight out and you can't bend them.

My uncle went and sold them today.....we got 6 dollars apiece for them, and $12 for a nice male fox. That hardly pays for the shells it took to kill them!
