Austinburg Bar Cited

Cleveland - Agents from the Ohio Investigative Unit (OIU) cited an Austinburg establishment overnight after observing blatant violations of the order restricting alcoholic beverage sales for on-premises consumption to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

Agents visited the following liquor-permitted establishment and issued a citation after witnessing the violations:

The Corner Bar, Austinburg, Ashtabula County, received an administrative citation regarding the limitation on hours for on-premises consumption. At approximately 12:30 a.m. agents observed a female patron standing in the doorway of the establishment consuming an alcoholic beverage. Upon entry, agents observed approximately 10 patrons, all of which were consuming alcoholic beverages, and the bartender was in the act of pouring and serving additional alcoholic beverages.

The case will go before the Ohio Liquor Control Commission for potential penalties, including fines and/or the suspension or revocation of liquor permits.

The Ohio Investigative Unit is made up of fully-sworn, plainclothes peace officers responsible for enforcing Ohio’s alcohol, tobacco, and food stamp fraud laws. Agents conduct compliance checks to ensure the liquor permit premises are compliant with the Ohio Liquor Control Act. Agents also act on complaints of illegal activity on liquor permit premises. In addition to providing the safety checks associated with the COVID-19 directives, OIU agents continue to perform their normal compliance checks to ensure the liquor permit premises are complying with the Ohio Liquor Control Act.

The Ohio Investigative Unit is charged with enforcing the state’s liquor laws and is the only state law enforcement agency specifically tasked with investigating food stamp fraud crimes. Agents also investigate tobacco violations. Follow OIU on Facebook and on Twitter.

Oh but rioting in Columbus is completely ok. You can get smashed in a bat and drive home and potentially kill someone that's your choice, but we'll be damned if we're gonna let you hang around to get covid that only spreads after midnight. 🙄

Someone explain to me how restricting restaurants alcohol serving time is gonna make a huge impact? Talk about throwing shit at the wall...

We were talking about that over the weekend and only thing we came up with was your good judgement would likely be impaired :ROFLMAO: Saying "I Love You Man" while hanging on someone you don't know is a good way to get it?! LMAO!! :ROFLMAO:

Yep. The way I see it, it's all about behavior. The drunker people get, the less they follow rules. Kind of like why they don't have nickle beer night at Cleveland stadium anymore.o_O
