Left the house at 9:40. Heard one about half way back. He hammered about 10 times on his own. Was trying the sound and stalk method but he shut up long before I had a good idea of his intentions. I took an educated guess and headed for the clover plot. Bumped a hen in the path headed into it. I’m not sure if he was with her or not. We will continue this game and a later time.

Just an update. They got 3 birds that day and this 4 beard has 29 3/4" of beard.

I’ve had a couple birds respond but I am legally as far as I can go and they are concerned about stepping foot on my property. Going to give it a little time but I have things I need to get done.... unless one of them convinces me it’s worth the butt chewing to keep hunting.
Hoped off the quad to the eerie serenade of a lonesome coyote this morning. Not a single gobble in response. None of my locating attempts have been successful, so I'm in the blind calling and waiting. Turkeys are stupid. This is stupid. I miss my bed...

I'm growing concerned over the population in this area after the resurgence of bobcats, but also some difficult environmental conditions in recent years. I'm see very little sign from turkeys, and other than opening weekend, it's been DEAD out here.

I’m talking to birds. None on us. We will see how bad they want to play. I will take these temps in November!
Gonna move to a field edge with some sunshine. With how damp it is and the cold, I'd have to think being in a sunny field would be appealing to a turkey.
Even my coffee is cold. I'm going to soccer...

The 2 birds that were at the house yesterday roosted across the hollow on the neighbors. I took my SIL after one I’ve been playing with all week. We’ve heard nothing this morning.
