Believe it or not, my boys are still playing ball in their fall league. The playoffs were set to end last weekend but the rain killed those plans.
Yesterday, Klay (9-10 division) won to advance to the semifinals. He hit a 2 run double in the 5th to put his team ahead for good. He also made a bases loaded two out play at third that was slick. He ranged to his left and snagged a short hop and hosed the runner at first to end the threat.

Kody played his game under the lights (11-12 division) in Weirton, WVa. The game was tied 1-1 in the top of the 6th and Kody was up with guys on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs. He drove a 2-2 pitch past the secondbaseman to drive in 2 and they won 3-1.
His team now plays in the championship Saturday.

I was a proud papa last night.

Klay played his 9-10 year old semi final game today. I'm very proud of him. His team won 6-5 and he drove in 4 of the runs with a bases loaded single over the SS and a two out double into RC with guys on 2nd and 3rd. His last time up he reached on catcher's interference. In the field he made two plays at 2b and got the save throwing the last 2 innings and giving up one run.

The championship is set for Tuesday and I believe Kody's championship is now Monday.

Congrats the Klay, the Cottis family is on a roll!

Not anymore! Kody's team played their 11-12 championship last night under the lights in Weirton. They lost 6-4 and Kody k'd twice with guys on base. He got caught looking once. Nothing burns me up more than taking third strikes. I gave him the silent treatment on the way home instead of harping on it. I figure that may have sunk in more. Lol
He's still learning, but his lack of aggression at the plate sometimes drives me nuts!

Klay plays his championship tonight. Hopefully he fares better and hopefully the rain holds off.

Fall ball is done!!! Thank goodness.
Klay's team won the 9-10 championship 6-5.
He went 2-3 with two singles. Both singles started off big innings. He was pretty fired up winning the league.

Now it's on to flag football... Then basketball... Sheesh!

Every year the Pirates send a few guys to our local mall to promote the team. I took the boys this year again and we won an autographed all star jersey from Kevin Correia. That's pretty cool.

Well, today marks the beginning of season number 12 for me as the head coach at Indian Creek HS. We return a lot of players after losing only two to graduation. However, those two were my top two pitchers. So, offensively we should be ok. On the mound? Not so sure. Time will tell.
One good thing about baseball starting is that it means spring is right around the corner!
