Being a 'Natural'

I've been blessed to be fairly decent at most things I've taken on in my life. I don't excel in many, but I'm able to hold my own more often than not. I'm a natural people person. Reading a person quickly and being able to mold "me" to that person and situation is something I'm very good at. Because I have a lot of interests, it is rare that I cannot connect with someone on some level. Its served me well and is why I'm good at my job.

Although its early, I feel like I was meant to coach. It comes naturally and I'm succeeding simply because it just comes out. I feel like I get in a zone and all those years of instruction come spewing out. Time will tell, but so far so good!

I'm a natural at reading people, I can usually tell within a few minutes if a person is a douche canoe or not:D I'd also like to think hunting came kind of natural TOO me, I mostly taught myself.

Playing pool. At age 14 I was winning big $$ tournaments if allowed to play. I've played a few of the worlds best and held my own. By the time I was 25 I was sick of it and quit. I haven't touched a stick in 4 years and could probably walk into any bar in my area and within a couple games be whipping anybody that came through the door.

That kind of goes along with anything hand/eye coordinated. Ping pong, Guns, bows, welding

Wanna go win some money?

Wanna go win some money?

Money won is twice as sweet as money earned:smiley_coolpeace: The problem now is guys just wanna fight constantly over losing. I grew up in the worst of the hole in the wall small town bars, so I handle myself fine in a fistfight, but it rarely is just a fistfight anymore, even in the smalltown bars around here. That's why I quit when I started my new job. I don't need to get in trouble and lose my job for smashing a coke head in his teeth with a cueball. I do miss it though. I have 3 newer, 2 car garages on my property that really could be made into a nice bar/recreation room. Now that my wife and are settled at career jobs I think that's our next little splurge. A little carpet, insulation and some OSB and we'd be in business

We need a TOO pool tourney. I used to play a ton back when i was living in bars. Im not as consistent as i used to be, but aint skeeered of making a wager against anyone on a game.

I'm the same as you gordo. A buddy and me would run the table and a lot of times I got drunk for free lol

I can attest for Gordo and Fluteman on the felt. Those boys can shoot pool. Me? I'm a drunk that likes to shoot pool. I suck, but have my moments. I just find it enjoyable.

Hell yea, a tourney would be fun. Did any of you guys ever play APA? Our team made it to Las Vegas Nationals in 2001. We finished tied for 65th out of 688 teams. Our 2 losses came to the 2nd place team and the 9th place team. I lost my only match in the whole tournament, 4-4 against a skill level 5 player our final match. It was a great match. I was up 4-2 and breaking. I made nothing on the break and never got to shoot again. He ran out that game and made an 8 ball break the next game. I still think about that all the time

I honestly didnt think 8 ball tourneys existed on that level. Figured it was all 9 ball

U prob meant. 8 ball break, as in 8 balls dropping. My bad

No,an 8 ball break. The Amateur Pool Association (APA) and Billiard Congress of America (BCA) have national 8 ball leagues. Actually, 8 ball is more of a widely played game by a big margin. It's just that 9 ball is good for TV because the run outs are a lot easier and the breaks a lot flashier and a faster paced game. 8 ball clutters the table and has a lot more thinking involved than 9 ball on average.

Lets see some of your art man

I had a thread somewhere but couldn't find it.

I love shooting pool as well but haven't shot pool I eons though. Back in the 80's my buddies and I hit the local taverns and pool hall tourneys and won more than just a few but Ryan sounds way out of my league. I'm very rusty at it I'm sure but if I were to shoot a lot for a couple weeks I'd get back my stroke and touch.
