I'd like to see the odds numbers of dying by mass shooting next to the Rona numbers and something else. Like trips and falls...or lung cancer, alcohol related deaths.
I believe the point being made is that there are a lot of deadlier things that they should be focused on finding a solution.
Exactly Jon. All this push and money spent in the wrong areas. Much more important things in this country to try and control IMO. Things that can actually save mass numbers of lives. Even if just education was expanded on in some areas I mentioned. This gun control push is a damn joke and I'm tired of it. Take that time, money and effort and put it towards some good. The Rona being thrown in the mix is starting to fall in the same category. It aint as bad as originally thought. Yet the push is stronger than ever.

Bear in mind this includes the very liberal application of "mass shooting" where three or more people ate shot. Dad who wipes his family, gangbanger shoots up a BBQ. Etc. And not the random act of violence definition that most of us consider being a "mass shooting".

Blow that out to odds of actual mass shootings like the one in Atlanta or colorado and it could easily be in the 1 in 70,000+ arena.
At the end of the day, you own doctor is far more likely to kill you that a gun in any act of violence. Preventable medical errors are the third leading cause of death in the US and per John Hopkins kill over 250,000 people per year. If we add in Opioid deaths from people who became hooked by negligent overprescribing doctors and that number would explode exponentially. The biggest danger you will face by far, especially as you age, is your family doctor and your friendly neighborhood pharmacist.
Well they are working on most of those things mentioned except maybe trips and falls and there are some things you can do to guard against them or treatments and vaccines. Everyone knows the numbers on these things and mass shootings and its like preaching to the chior. I don't know what we can do about mass shootings but bitch n about the mass media isn't going to solve it. Seems like the anti gun faction gain a little with each occurance.

This guy like so many others had a history of mental illness, violence, and committing threats. The FBI knew about him through the investigation of an acquaintance. Days before the shooting his family saw him playing with the gun and took it from him. He was convicted of assault at 18. Everyone that knew him knew he had a history of mental illness. Yet none of them reported his instability, none of them notified the authorities, none of them tried to get him "help". Which would have likely resulted in him being unable to purchase a firearm if the law was followed and it was appropriately reported to the feds. Even when he bought a gun none of them reported it as a concern even after being concerned enough to take it. What we need to do is insist that the laws we have on the books are followed and lay the blame squarely where it's due. This isn't a failure of law or authorities, this is a failure of family, of acquaintances, of everyone that knew he was a loose cannon. But the left has no intention of fixing that, as evident by them filibustering Cruizs bill. They would rather blame the rifle.

Potentially, however irrelevant. If the funds, time, and energy they put into infringing on the 2A were put into mental health and mental health awareness, they would finally be getting to the root cause. NOT a small causal factor.

What's extremely disheartning is the Atlanta shootings are being touted as a hate crime after a white guy killed 6 asians, a Guatemalan, and a white guy. Which is interesting considering the target was massage parlors and what he saw as a tempting sin because of his sex addiction. The target was not asians, even the shooter said he didn't target asians, and it wasn't about race. But since the majority of workers at those places are asian those were the majority of the victims.
Yet an Arabic guy kills 10 white people in Boulder and not a word is said about even the possibility they were racially targeted, despite witnesses saying he took his time and picked targets.
