Come sit around the campfire this weekend. Get you a hotel in town with a comfy bed. The stress free environment might help ya.
A weekend like that would be great, but it isn’t in the cards. My daughter is coming home this weekend and bringing a couple friends. Her friend Lola is a black chic from Cleveland that has come to love her redneck retreats to our house. Lol. She wanted Mason to take her on a four wheeler ride a few weeks ago. He looked at her a bit surprised and asked if she had ever ridden one. She answered, “ I’m from Cleveland. We ride the bus”. I need to visit with my girl Saturday before getting the shop open. As far as a bed, I’ve not slept in mine for weeks. I kept my bride awake due to my constant moaning and whining when rolling over. Lol.

I don’t think anyone could get used to this. It was a nice sharp pain above my butt cheek to start, moved into my hip joint over time. Now thankfully, it’s not a full time pain. Just happens when I walk for more than a few feet or stand for a minute. My right butt cheek to my knee feels like a world class burning cramp. And as far as enduring that, nope. It will sit you down.
I’m fortunate that I have a good friend and neighbor who is a chiropractor. He’s worked on me a good bit but it seems to be more painful when he does so I’ve cut that out. He stopped in the shop yesterday and seemed a bit concerned that it hadn’t let up yet but I honestly do feel a little better today. I had this once before and it lasted a month or so before vanishing. I’m looking forward to waking up one day soon to be back to normal. Getting old ain’t for sissies. Another thing that I count myself fortunate for; the guy in the picture I posted with the giant buck is a physical therapist/trainer as is evident by his gym rat body. He showed me some freakishly strange stretches to do and they really do seem to be helpful. I’ll probably live through all this in spite of my best efforts. It’s inconvenient for now but will eventually pass I’m sure.

I seriously couldn't function without doing my lengthy stretching regimen every day. neck, shoulders, arms, back, legs, and feet. head to toe for real. sometimes twice a day, sometimes I have to stop working and stretch a little. stick with it, and it will help you and maybe prevent relapse.

Mason I went hunting with Chad and Mallory today. We enjoyed their company and Chad did find the fish. Here is a pic of Chad with a couple dandy elusive perch.

I made my first morning sit of the year up in Fayette today. I drove my truck nearly to the stand. I figured it may cut down on the number of deer I’d see but didn’t really have a choice as walking is still a pain. I saw one while driving back the lane and another 16 from the stand. I only had a shot opportunity at a small six point, everything else was out of range. The fifth deer I saw was a dandy buck, I’m sure I’d have shot if I had a chance. Saw only three bucks. Fun morning.

Mason went to Fayette without me tonight. I planned to tag along but walking out to the barn to get ready was enough of a reminder that Ive got no business taking a long stroll just yet. Six freaking weeks and counting since this started...
I was hopeful for both Mason and Jake tonight (Carpn). Jake is on a stud buck and was going in after him for the first time tonight. My body wasn’t in the woods but thanks to those two and the live thread, my mind sure was. Mason had a slow sit. The landowner came back pretty close to him to do some mowing. He maintains a feeding station that is 230 north of Masons stand. As soon as he finished mowing and left the area, Mason saw 7 antlerless deer sneak out and start munching before moving on for the evening. That was all he saw. Jake’s plan didn’t come together tonight but I’m willing to bet it will soon and I’ll be thrilled when it does!
I hope to get out with Masons help this weekend to move some stands this weekend. They will be much closer to the truck but still in good kill spots. We are getting close to one of more exciting times of year!

Mason and I hunted Fayette tonight. He saw six or seven, no shooters. I hunted from the Turtle and saw just two button bucks and one rabbit. There are none of the usual scrapes or rubs showing up yet. My bet is it will happen on Halloween. They will likely fire up suddenly and it will seem all is right with the world.
