Hopefully they’ll be okay. I almost was wanting to buy mice poison but moonshine will check every little detail when taking a piss onto something in the backyard. So that’s what had me worried.

Well… it finally happened. Stupid me allowed the dogs into the far barn unattended, and then I noticed the rat poison missing. I normally have it inside the tamper proof containers, but I had a couple “bricks” in another spot that is normally closed off. They found it, unfortunately. And I had no idea which one ate it.

So, to the side yard we went, bottle of hydrogen peroxide in-hand. Down the hatch. I watched both dogs throw up and dry-heave for about 15 minutes. Turns out, they both ate the poison. Bromadiolone .005 %… it’s an anticoagulant.

I feel like they will probably fine. But my wife is insisting we should call the vet. I know damn-well the vet is not going to tell me “they’ll be fine”, for fear of a lawsuit. I really don’t want to spend $300 on a vet bill right now. I think I’m gonna just watch them closely the next few days and see how it goes.

What does everyone else think about this? Any similar experience of your own?
My niece was a vet tech had to do something similar with her dog , he was fine

How are they this morning?

My thoughts are aligned with yours, in that if they’re better today then things will be fine. If there lethargic or worse then I wouldn’t hesitate to take them in. I just hate going to the vet only for them to tell me to keep an eye on them for the next few days.

The old dog, Betty, puked two more times last night. No blood or poison in it that I can see… just half-digested dog food. Both of them are chipper this morning as usual. So hopefully it’s an upset stomach from the peroxide.

Awesome man happy to hear they're doing ok. Glad you knew that trick. A lot of people don't know you can do that with peroxide.

Looking back it's funny to watch them after giving the peroxide they're just like drunk humans. Right before they puke they stop running around, sit there all still with a serious look on their face, you can almost see them thinking " oh man I'm gonna puke, I'm going to try not to, nope I'm gonna puke"

Haha man that is so true. 😂 I’ve had to do this a few different times over the years and it always make me feel terrible for them. They just give you that look like, “what the hell man… really?”
