As many of you know, my newly-acquired hunting property up here has been anything but impressive on the trail camera and activity fronts this season. My mineral sights have gone virtually untouched by the deer. My expectations have been much lower than any other scouting season in the past, that I can remember at least...
Well, I finally made it down to the farm in Carroll County to do some food plot prep yesterday. Normally, I run cams down there year-round, but I haven't had a single one set there this season. I went up to check one of the mineral sites and was really happy with what I found...
There was just a salt block there last season... and they kept using it all the way up to this spring... But since refreshing it with Jesse's mix in May, they've absolutely destroyed it. Too bad I didn't have a cam over it!!! The good thing is it's got a camera over it now, and I dumped my remaining supply of minerals onto it. :smiley_bril:
I hung the Spypoint IR6 under a loaded apple tree on the neighboring property, facing toward a couple low-hanging branches, with a pear tree in the background. There was literally a carpet of deer shit under these fruit trees, so I'm expecting some great things in a couple weeks. Two years ago I hung a cam under this same apple tree and I think I caught just about every buck in the area.
