Ran into a guy at Costco. He overheard my wife and I having a debate on edamame beans.
He started saying how bad they were and how he’d sworn off all carbs.
He’d dropped 60lbs and feels like he’s in his 30’s again. I was just smiling, the wife just said omg another one

I can understand the limiting of sugar in your diet but in a rub there are positives for sugar.
It increases browning and carmelization and all the flavors associated with the milliard reaction.
My beef and some of my chicken and pork rubs don't include sugar. It just depends on what I'm going for.
Check out the Danos brand, they are low too no salt and no sugar in the variants i have. I love their Chipotle on eggs
