He should not have fled the scene like he did. It looks bad IMO...

Risk assessment.. He only busted 1 of them. The other fled. Did he flee to go retrieve his own gun? Maybe an AK from his trunk, or a shotgun.. You could quickly find yourself out gunned. Maybe he fled to get a friend with a gun etc. If the perp who was shot was the only threat, then I would agree ALWAYS stay... However there was an unknown variable, the one that got away, who might be coming back.. The CHL holder eliminated the immediate threat, and removed himself from the harm of the other guy..
Later on in the thread he said as soon as he pulled out of the parking lot he called 911 and told them he had shot someone etc.. The dispatcher told him the police were on the way there and to stay on the line. Once the officers were on scene, the operator told him to go back to the gas station, park, and place his hands out the window... He did that and said when he got back to the scene he was treated with respect and never made to feel like a criminal by the Dayton officers.
