It's not that you disagree, it's how you go about it that is chapping asses around here. Tact goes a long way on the Internet when you can't decipher a persons tone or inflection via their written word. Learn to use a little around here and the ride will be much smoother...
Wow. Just wow. Come up to NW Ohio and drive around with me. Do you know what a bean.field looks like? There are people around here that make a living planting food crop. Groundhogs are a nuisance here.
Well I am here to tell you I am right that Central Ohio is overrun with both yotes and groundhogs. Look back through my trail cam pics on 6 different farms (all 500 acres or larger). Dozens of yotes. I killed a ton and didn't make a dent.
You must live in an area with absolutely no Ag if you are not seeing any groundhogs. I guarantee for every 40 acres of beans I have 8 or more groundhogs. Do you know the amount of beans they eat of my families? Apparently not. Just know you are completely wrong on the subject of yotes and g-hogs for the majority of the state.
This one was a running shot with a pistol! Pretty proud and saved countless bushels of beans.

Have you ever seen the damage a groundhog does to a parked car? Or when they crawl up a grain leg?
The brown spots/semi circles on the edge of beanfields is not from water like most think. It is groundhogs as some eat from their hole on out.
Yep. Others think it is from shade from nearby trees. Nope. Nuisances are the problem.

Would you guys believe I haven't seen a field like that around here for several years? My neighbor used to try to shoot 100 ground hogs a year off his farm. He only saw one last summer, and none this year! I have nothing against shooting ground hogs btw...If you still have them.

I'll admit it, I shoot whistle pigs cause its fun. Maybe I'm a bad guy for it, don't really care. I can think of a lot worse things I could be doing.
I haven't been over in these parts for a month or more and came across this thread today. We've been having a terrible problem with groundhogs this summer in both the soybeans and the vegetable fields. I've shot 15 this summer mostly concentrating on saving the vegetable crops since those crops command a higher price than the beans do. Some of those kills were around the soybean field though. Anyway I thought it would be interesting to some to see what one groundhog can do to the soybean field near their den area. Both pictures taken off a tripod set at the same height.
