That blind setup is sweet!! Good luck buddy.

I was thinking the same thing! If you can get in and out of it undetected the deer are in trouble!!! I can picture all your does out feeding on cold afternoon/evening and a slob scent checking each one of them while you wait for the perfect shot! Hope it happens for you!

Spent Sunday morning sitting on the ground on the hillside above a shelf that connects a couple of my sanctuaries. Watched a doe with two fawns feed in the bottom below and that was it for the morning. I headed up to our hardwoods ridge for an afternoon sit after doing some midday scouting while checking cameras. I found some fresh scrapes up there while scouting, so I sat in my N wind set. Saw a small 6 point at last light. It felt good to be up on that ridge. I've not hunted there a lot over the years, but I see some serious potential. I need to put a little work in, but it could become one of my best spots.

I'm off Fri-Mon, Wed, Fri-Sun, and Wed the 11th, so I have some time to get things done. Friday will be an all day sit, Saturday I have to be out by 5 for Trick or Treat, then sit all day Sunday and Monday. Hope to see things kick off on Friday after this front passes through.

Yeah, a lot of blood is spilling this weekend and next week! I'm hunting all day on Friday So I hope Karissas up for it or she'll haveta climb down and drive home cuz I ain't moving unless the wind does a 180 or I get a hankerin on moving to another set. Saturday I'm hunting most of the day but gotta quit mid afternoon to go to a Halloween party....ugh that'll hurt!

Good luck buddy!

Sure hope you get a crack at DD!!!

Thanks buddy! Have fun out there. I spent about an hour on Google Earth and MyTopo last night strategizing for the weekend. I feel good about what I have planned.

Made it out for a sit last night in the ground blind I tucked in the standing corn overlooking my Whitetail Institute Pure Attraction plot. Wasn't expecting much with the warm temps, but felt like I should be out with the break in the rain. Saw a lone BB fawn, so that was a good sign. I'll be out the next 4 days. I plan to sit all day every day but Saturday as I have to leave by 4 to make Trick or Treat with my daughter.

Couple good hunts over the past two days. Not rocking, but getting close. I climbed down at 10:30 this morning and did a little scouting. Found some good sign in an area I've had daylight pics of mature bucks in 3 of the last 5 seasons around this time. It turned in to bump and dump since I didn't even make it as far as I wanted before jumping a small herd of deer. Looking forward to what tomorrow might bring.

Strange weekend given the amount of does I saw and the lack of bucks. I can only hope it will get better from here.

Sat for 11.5 hours today and had 13 deer sightings; 10 antlerless and 3 scrub bucks. It makes for a lot of time to reflect and I spent the vast majority of my day thinking about deer and my miserable luck at killing one on our farm. I almost let it ruin an otherwise quality hunt. The sunset tonight and knowing it could have been worse helped salvage the day. Tomorrow I'm going back to the same tree. I know it's in a good spot, I just need to be there when a shooter finally does stroll through there because it WILL happen sometime in the next few days when they go looking for the next doe in heat. I saw 4 different adult does today and I'm in a great spot in relation to the habitat and topography. Just a matter of time. Keep putting in the time and anything can happen and if not, I have a plan for that too.

I decided tonight that I'm going to fill my buck tag on the farm this year. Period. I'm burying the monkey on my back before this season is over and if I have to shoot a fork horn on February 7th, so be it. Ten years and hundreds of hours invested with nothing tangible to show for it is wearing on me. I need a fresh start and meat in the freezer. This two deer limit cramps my style on the food end of things...

I also sat for a couple hours Thurs and Fri seeing a few deer in the process...

If your seeing does your in the rt spot. IMO ypyr big deer are locked down rt now. You sit there for 5 days in a row seeing does, you will kill one.

Two sits in this general area and I seen multiple mature does, multiple times in the span of the hunt. I'm where they feel comfortable. I may switch to a more aggressive stand site with this switch in the wind. We'll see how tomorrow goes.
