They’re moving this morning. I’ve been hoping to avoid this guy only because I know his pattern and have watched him for two years. Would love to see him a year from now. Not sure how much more restraint I’ll be able to have with him. Might just have to hunt the other side of the farm and go after one of the older bucks with less bone.

Hey, it’s your tag so use it however you like. 👍🏻

That’s a mature buck with a cool looking dark rack and prolly should be taken out of the herd but knowing YOUR buck hunting quest is over with so much more season left does care some weight. Good luck either way but from all the images of deer you’ve passed thus far and seeing the successes of your family, tagged out or not by seasons end you sir have had a GREAT season…..👍🏻🤟🏻
Last year was a great season. This year has been very slow for the most part. Best rut ever to nothing happening. Oops, 2 year old chasing.
BTW: I will shoot the one from yesterday given the chance. If he’s the one I think he is he is 6.

Wind has picked up quite a bit here. Endless amounts of leaves falling and next to impossible to hear a deer walking in. I dislike this situation. Big deer walking during midday have a way of sneaking up on you and ruining your day!
Same situation here.

Just had a mature doe bust ass across the field to my north. She stopped 45 yds shy of the thicket and stared behind her for a short bit then hurriedly dipped into the thick stuff. That was 10 min ago and haven’t seen a thing trailing her which is surprising. Action is action though.

Please PM coordinates, I'm happy to assist. That is a great picture of a beautiful deer!

I’m out and ready to roll. The wind is blowing but it’s the right direction for this setup. Hopefully something rolls through this evening

That sucks man I know the feeling happened to me twice last week!
This is the 14th year in a row for me. It was frustrating for a while. Then became funny. Getting to the point of why bother.
Here is how bad my luck is. It took 40 years of rifle season in WV for me to finally SEE an 8 point. 40 years. Me and another guy take the last 2 spots opening morning, basically which spot of the 2 left do you want. He kills an 8 every year. All the hard work and preparation mean nothing if you don’t have Lady Luck looking out for you.
Rant over. Guess I needed to vent

Finally in a tree. Got a stand snd sticks half moved after this mornings hunt but ran out of time to finish getting it set. Had a meeting at noon, had lunch following then came back to finish hanging then hunt. It’s almost 70°, I was running behind and taking things too seriously. Get half way back when I realized they are taking the beans off 75yds to my north. That got me to slow down and get this stand hung in a proper fashion. I really like this split tree and the fact that it’s leaning back. Feels like I’m hunting out of a recliner. Have pretty good cover as well. Do not have any sort of high hopes or expectations this evening with the wind and tractor running but anything can happen I guess.

Back home in PA in one of my favorite all time stands. Almost always see deer. Crp field 40 yards to my east that they have been using a lot. It is absolutely tore up in here. Just hunting for a doe already shot my buck in this state. Good luck everyone!

My wife and I were getting ready to go out on errands and Drs appt for her and I looked out our backyard windows and saw a doe acting funny. Little later saw this up and coming 2-3 year old 8 playing the waiting game from a distance watching her browse and bed down. He was all( slow moving and acting lethargic) like they do so she doesn’t take off running drawing a crowd, lmao
It’s was 30 yards from my outdoor water boiler where I was going to be work later in the day. They were gone when we got back. Lol

First hunt last Friday seen mama with her kid during morning set. Then evening set on different property ten miles away seen another mama with her twins. Do they not run off the kids during the rut?

I've seen doe with her yearlings when being chased, she'll meet up with them after the pursuit. Maybe during the lockdown phase, the buck will kick them to the curb. Just a guess when they officially leave mama. Although I've shot mama during gun season and she's with her kids.
