LIVE from the stand 2025-26

Before and after. Mother Nature threw everything she had at me today, including hours of mind numbing snow melt off the leaves and several unexpected sleet downpours including the one that came out of nowhere to cover most of the blood trail. One lung and heart, 28 yards quartering away on a bench about 20 feet below my tree. 4th buck to follow the same does trail. All deer seen between 10:15 and 12:10. Didn’t know he had a weird handlebar.
That's a cool buck . Awesome job congratulations!!

I’m in for the evening. Hunting an “old” spot on public that I haven’t hunted or even scouted this year. I got up and in super quickly and quietly and was curious what was wrong, then I realized my grunt tube is in the truck lol. On a travel corridor near some scrapes. Was settled by 4, had a button wander through at 4:15. Thankful the skunk is off… just need a decent one to do exactly what the button did and we’ll be in business.

Well would you look at that, something to keep my interest, and we were only 100 yards a part.

5 doe and a new buck showed up today. Not a shooter but he’ll be good in a couple years if he makes it. He’s already got a patch of fur between the shoulder blades missing and a noticeable limp going on. So not sure if he got his ass kicked or crossed paths with a vehicle….
I’m done, got down and went and had a late breakfast with my brother. Stopped at the owner’s house and said my goodbyes and told them I’d see them in a couple weeks.
Now to get all packed back up and load the truck for the trip home tomorrow….
It’s been a nice 8 day hunt even if no shooters presented themselves. 5 hours on stand in the morning and 4 in the afternoon and saw deer just about every sit. Can’t complain about that.
Good luck fellas!
Safe travels J.

My chess match continues, after this mornings hunt I moved my camera to the supposed trail to confirm its usage but elected to not move my stand…ended up having him 65ish yards away but never saw him, go figure!

Today ends the NNW winds and it is replaced with a S wind so back to the drawing board on how to go after him in the thicket before gun season starts

Saw 4, one being a buck dogging a doe and her fawns. Had 2 bucks on their feet in daylight on 2 different cams, and another doe with 2 doe fawns also up before dark. Not the worst hunt I've ever had, so it was worth the effort.
