LIVE from the stand 2025-26

On another NOTE .... many years later, after I'm married .... at one family Christmas gathering at my parents, as Mom was passing out gifts, she gave me a letter. It was from this teacher years ago & Mom held on to it. It was a very nice letter, telling her how wonderful of a student I was & how I was one of her favorites & how successful I turned out in adult life. After reading, I turned to my wife & said ....wtf ? Mom was in the early stages of alzhiemer's & the letter was actually for my brother ....lol.

I said I was gonna take a little hunting hiatus yet here we are. No reason to be hunting other than the wind is right. Only antlerless and 1.5-2.5 year old bucks on cam since August. But it’s 11/19 and I suppose anything can happen since there’s several does here. I already have a pair of mature does browsing in a bean stubble field 100 yards away, so that’s a win. Not too hopeful, but it’s a nice night out no matter what.

Just had some sirens in the distance get a coyote to fire off inside of 100 yards. I don’t know shit about calling in coyotes so I did my best impression of a yipping howling noise, and I think he did it back? The flock of turkeys I was watching between him and I have already flown into their roost an hour before dark so I’d assume it’s somewhat close. I did a few kissing/squeaking sounds the loudest I could and kept my bow in hand and ready for 10 min and nothing showed. Any incredibly slim chance of me seeing a mature buck is certainly crushed after I did some stupid ass wailing, but it’s been 5 ish years since the last yote i shot with a bow and I wouldn’t mind adding another to my tally 😂

They can hear the kissing sound a incredible long way. You don't have to do it very loud. I've had them hear it 100 yards away when I could barely hear myself

Im back in 200 yards from the spot ive been hunting, overlooking a corn field they picked Tuesday. On the way in I dumped a bag of corn at the blind ive been sitting and walked to the other spot. Got to the stand and checked to see what the notification was from the camera at the blind and Ill be damned if it isnt one of the bucks im hunting 15 minutes after I just walked out of there. Hopefully my nephew can knock one of them down this weekend.
