My mind has changed about them as well. until the vaccines are distributed I'm wearing the them in public if posted. It knocked my wife pretty hard and is a freaking weird ass sickens to go through. I still can't smell. My grand parents are having a bad go of it from blood clots assuming covid caused. I don't believe masks are very effective at all but if it stops me from transmitting to a person that can't fight it and makes them feel safer, I'm good with wearing them.

Man that's a shitty person. Being considerate of others and maintaining appropriate distance doesn't require a mask. Knowing that if you're not feeling well that you should stay away from others doesn't require a mask. What you were dealing with is a very inconsiderate asshole. If I was forced to interact with such a person in a confined space I would probably wear one, even though a standard surgical mask is only about 14% effective. But truth be told with how inconsiderate he was I'm sure he want washing his hands or sanitizing adequately either, so even with a mask you guys probably still would have got it through surface contact.

I will just say unfortunately my work station is very near the bathroom and it is easy to figure out who does and does not wash their hands and you are spot on. That area is what we now sanitize the most with bleach/water, wiping everything down he/us could possibly touch. Before we got Covid we were not cleaning that area nearly as often but we also weren't taking the whole thing as seriously then too. So you are probably more right about the surface contact being a primary source.

They were very considerate folks besides the mask wearing - your guessing why they wore them - maybe they wanted TOO - maybe the had to - don't matter - glad they did and it wasn't a issue

Not guessing Geezer. Offering another point of view based on related personal experience. You're assuming they wore them purely out of the kindness of their heart. I'm proposing through experience that there may have been other factors at play also.

New guy here. I hope you guys don't mind me chiming in. Anyway, I have my own opinion based on experiences of my own. But regardless of what side we are on of the debate, I think most agree that some people take it way too far. For instance, I was fishing in a local river right before this last cold snap, when I saw a gentleman canoeing by himself. His attire is what drew my attention. He was wearing a surgical mask, face shield, and nitrile gloves. His shirt sleeves were also obviously duct taped to those gloves. I've also seen a fair amount of people horseback riding and hiking by themselves far away from any others and out in the open air who are dressed similarly. At least with the mask and sometimes gloves. I get it. People are scared. And maybe doing these things makes them feel safe. But this is really sad at the same time. People are so fear mongered, that they aren't trying to enjoy anything. Not really. Wearing these things way out in the middle of nowhere serves no real purpose. It just makes people remember that their life is full of fear. Just an observation. Agree if you want. Or not. We're living in a semi-free country.

Walrus... I'm a firm believer in wearing a mask when the moment dictates it.... Your observations are taking it too far... I see people driving with them on when their the only person in the vehicle....You are correct as some go a bit far....

Absolutely. I went to get a haircut yesterday and wore one. Prolonged very close proximity to an individual that has prolonged exposure to a large random number of the population... Yeah. Common sense... Walking into TSC to pick up a bag of feed and maintaining a 6+ foot distance, Nah not wearing one.

Kroger usually has mask by the entry. The one I've been using is a few weeks old so I pitched it and was gonna grab another. Well, they didn't have any out so I walked in to Kroger without to get me some lunch. Felt weird, like I couldn't even look at people kind of weird. These mask have a long lasting mental game to overcome.

This is gonna sound weird, but I now know why dogs noses control them. The smells of women's hair and whatever else smelled amazing. Something I probably never even noticed before. But almost every woman that walked past had a smell and it was the good kind. Lotion, or shampoo, body soap, perfume...all things I realized I missed. One older lady smelled like my grandma. That brought back some memories. Wouldn't of had that with a mask on.

How are them states doing that lifted the mask mandate?

Anybody else notice nose bleeds?

Never had more then a couple my entire life and most of those were from my own stupidity lol. Now it seems I get a slight nose bleed every other week. Have to wear a mask for work and to go into the store but other then that I don't. I think it's from having moisture buildup while wearing it and then drying out after taking the mask off. Correct me if I'm wrong but the mucus in your eyes and nose are present to stop possible infection. Now your opening up straight to your bloodstream. That can't be good and a real good way to get sick.
