Ohio Turkey Hunting Report

Went round three today, same tom he has still made it out alive. There were no hens today to steal him away like last day. I don't know what went wrong today but, I had the same strutting Jake deke with me that turned a bird earlier in the season. That thing is staying in the truck from now on. He came in gobbling just like the other day, so I think a change up in my location and decoys are in order for Monday.

Had a decent amount of gobblers this morning, but like other mornings, they were not on the property I have permission to hunt. I guess I need to get permission next door!
I had one hen out in the field, alone. I saw two "little things" running along the property next door. I put the glass on them and they turned out to be two coyote pups! I ran a few distress calls from my phone, but I didn't see mom or dad.
The best part of my hunt was this!

No gobbling at all for me this morning. I did have ahen and her poults cross the road as I was leaving.

By the time I got my phone out I only captured the last one trying to catch up.

Awesome find Mike! Imagine how long that has been sitting there waiting for you to stumble across it!

Had a bird sneak in on me this morning,I was working another bird he popped out of no were he never gobbled or made a sound,,he came in from my left and I couldn't turn to get a shot he came within 12yds. of me and I didn't kill him..............he started to walk away and I turned he busted me turning and took off flying and I sent him him 2 shots but missed

The end of the season is closing in. I could hunt this Friday and/or Saturday, but I'm struggling with deciding if I want to make the trip down to Belmont County. I have only heard birds gobble on two hunts this year. Do I get up at 3 am and make the 2 hour drive to hunt property I haven't been on in 3 weeks? Not sure what I want to do....

Getting ready to head out again after the last one gets on the bus. Yesterday was a bust the tom I have been chasing was a no show for the first time in the last 4 hunts.

I'll be out tomorrow morning and again on Saturday, but that will be it for me. It has went quiet here TOO. I dealt with hens the entire season, even in the handful of evening hunts I went on...

Watch that video I posted in the Ben gobble thread. Get those hens fired up and they won be a problem. They may tow that old Tom right in.
