I have no desire to go tomorrow. I found my birds. 15 have been hanging out a couple miles down the road. No permission on that property. No wonder I haven't been seeing or hearing any.
Congrats to all that have been successful.
Brock, I think the write up about Amos and yourself is classic. I turned 60 last November and have hunted all my life. Before having my open heart surgery in May of 2010 I pondered what would happen to my favorite guns if somthing went wrong in the OR. I have children and grandchildren that show very little interest in the outdoors. Amos was very blessed to have had a young man to show the simple joys of the outdoor life style. I wish I had been so blessed. I fear my favorite guns, knives and even my sacred hunting camp will be sold to someone I never had the chance to even spend a sunrise in the woods with. The thought makes me cringe.
I hunted Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week. Saw a lot of birds and the gobbles were uncountable. After watching the birds the last two weeks I moved my pop-up to a spot that hopefully puts me in gun range.
I suck. Nuff said. And Greg has the HD video to prove it...
We headed to the same farm where JB and I saw the 6 stutters last weekend this morning. By 6, we had a location on 3 and heard a couple more. We made a set up near where and old road dumps into an old corn field. The birds were fired up, but we had hens between us putting and cutting. I got aggressive and talked the two smaller birds into coming our way as it sounded like the bigger bird was rounding up the hens. We got a couple gobbles up close and personal as a hen on the other side of us started cutting up. Next thing I know, two 2.5 year old birds pop out at 12 steps, camera rolling and all. They were nervous, so I didn't waste any time shooting. Unfortunately, I aimed high and missed high like an idiot. Fugg!
We heard another bird while we were picking up the dekes, so we went to the same corner JB and I watched the birds last week and laid down some sweet video of a stud all by himself strutting as hammering away.
It was an awesome morning minus the miss and the fact that I only had one shell. I ran home and grabbed the ones I left this morning, now I'm headed to the farm. Maybe I can redeem myself yet!!!
A big thanks to Greg for coming along to film! It's great to have evidence that I can't hit the broadside of a barn!!! lmao

Go and knock on their door. Whatcha got to loose? I killed a Turkey with permission once and they allowed NO DEER HUNTING! Just a thought........
