Those that are having wind problems, are your grills insulated? My Traeger has the insulated top and I have minimal issues with wind.

My Traeger is suffering from a moving incident (snapped a wheel), but was also acting funky the last I used it. I think it needs to be cleaned and reset. It definitely struggles to hold temp when it's cold out, especially if you want to cook hot. I'm still somewhat pleased with the purchase, but the honeymoon is over.
Honeymoon over, divorce proceedings are likely underway. Did a shoulder overnight and it stopped short of the cook time due to "being under 125 degrees for more than 10 minutes". I need to clean it out and see why. I'm considering going to a "smokehouse" style vertical smoker and buying a griddle. Sell my Traeger to offset the expense, but diversify my cooking methods. Plus, I have the griddle bug pretty bad at this point. I really think I'd use it more than a pellet grill. We shall see how it plays out.

I like both. Both have different bullet points. With a young family of the larger size, I could see how the speed would outweigh the downfalls. You could feed a ball team in minutes.
Or hammer out breakfast and only dirty one cooking implement. I like "one pot" feeds and can see how it would simply my life when it comes to the big feeds I do throughout the year.

Get the shop vac and leaf blower out. Remove the grilles the plate below it and the cover over the pot. Use the shop vac on every inch, then hit it with the leaf blower. Be downwind from anything you like 😳
Wipe everything down and give it a whirl.
Burn can might be gummed up some. Any issue with moisture getting in the hopper?

I just cleaned it 2 cooks ago, so I'm not sure what's up. Pellets are garage kept, as is the grill. I may pull the auger this time. The only thing I can think of is the last 2 bags of pellets have had a lot of dust and despite trying to keep it out of the hooper, it's inevitable that it gets in there. I think that contributed to my ash pot filing up quicker than usual. I'm wondering if the fan wasn't stuck like it was last time.

As my dad would say, it's always something.

After some thought, we use our pellet grill probably 10-1 over our Blackstone. It is still dirty from Paint actually. That was the first time it was used since last fall. Likely won't get used until the graduation party.

In other words, it's great for large groups. We just prefer the smoke. We also hardly ever use it as a smoker anymore, lol. It's just a fancy grill to us.

I just bought a Pit Boss Competition 1600 a couple weeks ago. Had a bunch of menards cash saved up so it didn’t technically cost me anything. I’ve only cooked on it 6 times but so far I really like it. Really glad I drug my feet for so long buying one of these. It’s got all the “high end” features but with a much cheaper price tag than most grills from 3-4 years ago.
