Wife and daughter got me a new squirrel cutter for Christmas. I like how slim it is compared to the other knives I carry.View attachment 169299
Your wife and daughter definately love you getting you a Benchmade pocket knife... Damn things are expensive... Son got me one for my birthday with a pic of my dog engraved on the blade...Found out it was like $300.00.. Now I'm afraid of losing it....

@GoetsTalon here's the Benchmade knife my Son got me.. As you can see he had them put my English Setter on the blade... Damn nice pocket knife, too nice to use for everyday stuff... I'll say one thing it is sharp as a razor blade... Here's the other knife he got me for hunting... It's from White River custom knife works... Another very nice knife...

Those are really cool! My wife got me a knife for Christmas way back. Might have been our first together. I don't carry but use it to skin my deer out at home. Hasn't seen any use the last couple years lol. maybe muzzleloader season.

How many pocket knives have you guys ever lost? While carrying them. I say carry them and beat the crap out of them. These expensive knives are expensive because they can handle the abuse.

After my dad passed there are very few things I want to get my hands on some day. The pocket knive he carried every day is one of the items. Not the expensive one he kept in the safe, the one worn smooth and polished from carrying. The one that is a little shorter from that time he broke the tip off of it. The one that he used to cut summer sausage with at deer camp. The one he cleaned his nails with. The one he dug spliters out with.

Same with when we lost my wife's dad this year. They asked me what I wanted of his and I said I'll just want one of his pocket knives. The man worked his entire life to build what he wanted. We were at her grandma's last night and grandma asked me if I wanted anything and I didn't have the guts to ask for her grandpas in front of everyone. So I'll have to find to courage some other evening this week.

My point being, that these knives aren't just knives. These say something about the man carrying them. I've lost some over the years but I couldn't tell you which ones. I have a drawer of them and all of them have been beaten and battered. Thousands of thousands of dollars worth in that drawer. To some it might look like old used up junk. To me it tells a lifetime of stories. No other item in life has been a part of the making more than a pocket knife. They know mom buys the gifts, but they come to dad when they need a knife to open them. These aren't just knives. Carry them gents. Use them. No one wants the safe queen after we're gone. Someone will want the $10 junk one over the $300 nice one.

Dave... You are 100% spot on about using an item such as a pocket knife...I've carried mine since my son gave it to me and have used it on occasion for simple things... However I'll never abuse it... But then that's a bad habit I have about using something special... I seem to be always in protect mode and always shy away from using items that mean something... Yeh yeh I know they were bought to be used... Back to knives, funny for a simple item they always hold a special place in everyone's heart... Esp. the ones that are handed down... Here's a pic of an old Remington knife that was my Dad's... The handle broke and he made a new handle out of a block of aluminium... No lathe used just old fashioned craftsmanship and hand tools.... It's always in my pack when I'm hunting...

That post got a little more attention than I expected. I was standing next to dad when he broke the tip off the pocket knife I was talking about. I helped him take a load of junk to the yearly free dump day. He seen and old glass doorknob he had to have. Snapped that tip off trying to back the old round head screws out🤣🤣🤣.

Even I jumped when it happened! It worked much better as a crew driver once that pointy end was gone. 🤣🤣🤣

Not a pocket knife but was carried every day when I was a kid lol. The one that started my knife addiction. I was around 10 and we were camping up by sleeping bear dunes. Stop at a store for supplies and dad throughs this in a bucket along with other stuff he got. When we get back to camp he hands it to me. Talk about one happy kid lol.
