If you know where he’s bedded you might want to move up closer to his bedding in a few days if the wind allows. Cut some distance off to catch him in the daylight. I’d try to kill him in the morning at another tree.

He’s not bedding on my property...at this point he’s bedding wherever he wants. Last week a guy running rabbit dogs jumped him in the middle of an overgrown field about a 1/2 mile from my place. Only hope is that he comes to bait or comes in to check the ladies during daylight. Most of my doe sighting are in the morning.

George, have you tried to rattle a little? Maybe get him to come check out any male intruders. Sucks to hunt a nocturnal animal...

Never rattled before but I do use a grunt call a couple times a day.
My friend I hunt with in Illinois swears by it... Always has his horns with him... I've had some luck with it at times... I think it depends how many other bucks you have in the area... Buck I'm after here at home lives in an area of low deer density so I'm hesitant to try it... Something for you to think about...

We've done it the last two days, not sure it did much. BUT it sure didn't hurt anything.
Only thing I end up with are beat up fingers and hands....:ROFLMAO: And I have some foot and hand fungus that has my one hand (fingers) always cracking... I put up a stand last week in the cold with no gloves... Fingers were cracked and bleeding when done...

Sat all day again and was rewarded with a doe and fawn during the last 15 minutes of light. Psssh!

Well, I need some advise.
Sat dark to dark for 8 days straight....the last day being Saturday. It was real hot in the blind and I was sweating. Decided with it going to be hot over the next several days and the wind out of the south east (worse wind for my stand) that I would do the smart thing and even though I would be bored out of my mind, stay out of the stand for a couple days. Sunday there were zero deer at the stand during daylight according to my trailcam....so it was a good move. Today is even hotter at 78* so I opted to stay out again and wait for the rain/cold front coming soon and hunt all day Wednesday and Thursday before heading home Friday. Well, FML as I get an alert from my trailcam that the one I’m after decided to show up. Don’t know if he would’ve winded me or not had I been in the blind but he comes from the ravine bottom and that’s exactly where the wind is blowing today and tomorrow. I decide that because he is on his feet midday that I need to get out here. So I’m in the blind by 12:15. It’s 100* inside and I am sweating nonstop. It’s against my better judgement but I’m hoping the thermals will carry my scent uphill. Now here is my question: do I take a morning stand tomorrow and get out at noon before I start sweating profusely again or do I sit all day? Don’t want to bugger him because Wednesday and Thursday look to be perfect days...cold and NNW wind. Here’s a picture of the a-hole:

For what it's worth, I used two different pop ups & deer walk right by. The blinds contain my scent w/ no issues. You're best to get in & stay in. This is the time to do all day sits even if weather sucks. Late morning / early afternoon times can be game changers. The does aren't cooperating & you don't know what the bucks will do.

Just sounds like he really is using the wind to approach. Have you been able to determine which directions he comes to the site based on the wind? Days he comes in after you leave he could possibly be skirting you and coming in from a different direction that puts him down wind.
Every pic I’ve got of him he comes from the bottom of the ravine....hasn’t ever come in from any different direction...major deer run coming up from the bottom and that’s the one he’s using. I can’t help but feel like I’m fuggin up my chances by hunting today.

I had planned on staying out of the area today and hunting tomorrow evening right before the front, but now I’m thinking maybe sit in the morning....or all day even though it’s going to be record heat. I can’t make up my mind.
