Show and Tell: Your hunting bow...

image.jpg

My Q2XL hanging in a ground blind ready to be grabbed and shot. My first bow and only bow to date. Killed plenty of deer with it. Love it. Not fast compared to today's speedster bows but still gets the job done.

Surely you didn't let that Elite push you around Phil!?! Hell at this rate, you'll have to check in on this thread next year just to know what you're shooting! lmao

Nice looking rig, Phil. I like those Spyders. Did you shoot a 34 as well? I held a 30 and the ATA seemed too short for me to get comfortable with.

I surely hope not. It feels very familiar to what I have been using. Lighter draw, faster (at heavier draw) and should be more quiet. Lighter bow as well. Nice upgrades for a 5yr difference in bows. It should suit me for a good 5yrs or more I hope.

The Hoyt looks pretty badass Philbert! Hope you swarp a slob with it this season.

Thanks Ric and gang. I will keep shooting. Feeling very good at 20 until I get tired and self inflict errant shots. Hope to start dialing in my 30 yd pin tonight. As I move back further I think I will start to see if anything is really out of whack. Other than a noticeable twang after the arrow leaves I am very happy. Might need to contact Milo to.search for a remedy. I have some heavier spined arrows but given the 60lb draw I find it hard to believe it is an arrow issue. Probably just need some string leeches or something.

A heavy arrow is the best remedy for a loud bow. There is a night and say different in my Strother between the 390 grain and 530 grain arrows. If an arrow is too light/underspined, there is an excess of energy that has to go somewhere and it goes back through the bow causing it to be loud. A heavy arrow will absorb more energy, thereby quieting a bow. So yes, it could very well be an arrow issue...

Is it a new noise bud?

Noticed when I started flinging arrows at 20yds. Checked all my nuts and bolts first. Ended up shooting some Gold Tips I had laying around. 5575's I believe.

Shooting with quiver attached or detached? Have you clunked your fist around on different areas of the bow listening for noise? Sometimes you can't hear the noise doing this but you can feel the subtle vibration of something that's loose. Another quick/easy check is to detach your sight and fling a couple arrows. I'm sure you've got a good quality sight on it but sometimes sights create noise that is difficult to pinpoint.

Good suggestions. Quiver attached. Brand new Armortech sight but that doesn't mean it couldn't make a noise. I will try banging the bow. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks.

First, shoot it without the quiver attached. Second, check that Armortech. The Armortech is a great sight, but my only bitch about it is it will make noise if the gang adjustment screws aren't REALLY tight. I mean, finger tight isn't good enough. You have to tighten them down with an allen wrench to eliminate the noise.

Been working too much to shoot it. I think you are onto the answer though. After reading your post it occurred to me I loosened the bottom 4 pin screws and had intended on tightening them as I set them. Thanks Jagermeister. I believe that is the source. Hope to shoot tomorrow night. Will have an answer then.

First ever shot of a broadhead from the Strother and first time I've ever shot the Stinger Buzzcuts. This is from 20 yards on a beans new target. That's what I call penetration and knock down power!!!

Very nice. Don't see any reason that setup wouldn't blow thru a big ol buck deerz.

After watching Milo shoot his and watch the bag target rock about blew me away. Milo shoots logs not arrows, I swear he does lol.

Not sure why the pictures are sideways but I'm no computer expert so it's the best I can do.

Sweet rig man, but you'll never be able to shoot that bow right, it's wrong-handed!

I just read the other day Fred Bear shot lefty. That makes me feel better. Seriously though my buddy is right handed and he bought this same bow. The shop had his in stock when we were there in February. They had to special order me a lefty. I didn't get it until late May! Whether it's bows or scissors, us lefty's are always getting the shaft!
