Look what literally showed up in my yard earlier. For free! My aunt text me earlier and said my uncle wanted to give this to me and my dad as a "love gift" because he isn't using it and knew we would. My uncle mentioned my dad surveying a bunch of land for them and never charging them, so they felt it was a good way to pay him back. They gifted it to him, and he gifted it to me with the understanding I'd also keep him stocked. I know what I'm doing this weekend!

Ran the gas out of this thing in September, then put it up for the winter. Filled it with gas on Sunday and she fired up on the first pull. Ran 3 tanks of gas out of it without issue while chunking up this dead red oak. This has been a welcome addition to the homestead.

The farm I hunt on/cut wood on got sold (closes this Tuesday) so over the last couple months I’ve been selling the wood I had split and have been moving the wood I had bucked to a different friends farm. Got the last of it moved earlier this week, and the last half cord sold yesterday. Good thing the Tundra can pull the space shuttle as green red oak is heavy shit.

Aye.... been burning at night only. Hopefully down to under 10 more fires now... 7 months in yikes....
We have an outdoor boiler. Easier to keep it stoked once a day than to get it started again. Even if no call for heat, we benefit as it heats our hot water too. Next week in the upper 70s or 80s? Might let her burn out.

I burnt this week two nights. My house has been steady 50-60 degrees without heat. I won't burn anymore this year I hope. Suck it up buttercup, is the common phrase being used here....80 this week!!!!!
I need to keep fire going until temps outside don’t get at or below freezing to keep lines outside from freezing. It looks like the lows are going to warm up finally. It’s not bad burnin wood during these mild days cuz I can heat the house burning minimal wood.

I’m still burning till these overnight temps STAY higher than 50. Shouldn’t be long though. Funny though, last weekend the girls and their BFF’s stayed over and they were too warm so I’ll had fire going in boiler with the AC running at the same time through Saturday evening. Lol

Damn I love the smell of smoke while working outside. Prolly let her burn out tomorrow if I see warmer weather in forecast. Still got a decent size pile going into next season(5-6 cord maybe) but I’ll have to triple it to have any confidence going into start up mode.

It's what I call, 'a start'. Today's pile!

Made it home easy peasy with a full pickup load moments ago. Need to grab the rest of it tomorrow morning, which should be two more full pickup loads.

Anyhow,,,

Wanting to take advantage of this weekends cooler weather temps by cutting down two more large trees on our property. Trying to get ahead of all this business this year cause I want to hunt, and I have a new home to build so, I can't really afford to be messing aound if I want hunting field time.

After all this wood sits for a couple of weeks, I'll be hand splitting and stacking, which gets me in top shape for the new hunting season.

The plan is to fill my barn carport completely full of cut/split/stacked wood for the shop woodstove before the end of this September.
