I don't know why it was used. But my Scent Smoker showed up in the mail today. Oh man am I pumped. Big deerz headed my way now. I'm gonna smoke up for work to get practice in. Alright, sorry to hijack the hijack, why the springboards?
the last oak i cut was 40 to 48 inches across the stunp . by noodling the 20 inch rounds my grandson that is 6 can split them with a wedge and a 4 lb hammer .
I'm going to guess so the lumberjack could get up above the flaring of the tree trunk on old growth trees. IDK lol.
No! It was so they could do back flips off the spring board soon after yelling "timber". They were also judged by a panel based on originality, style, and technique.

We had to use those in the Bitterroot Mountains because no gasoline engine in the national forest
. I don't mind blazing trails but those things suck lol.OK, does anyone know where I can just buy some hardwood chips and get started? I have a smoker a good friend gave me but I have been reluctant to try it.
after getting busted several times this because of my scent I am ready to try. the only wood I have around the house is cherry. I do have some pig hickory. also have some red oak rough sawn I suppose I could saw up.
has anyone tried the wood chips they sell at places like home depot?

I buy hickory chips from Home Depot. They work great and will save you shipping from BEC. I like hickory the best as the oak seems to have a harsher aroma and the mesquite is a foreign odor...
I got a bag of Smoker chips at Wal - Mart and they seem to smoke up rather nice. You won't need more then a handful to get everything smoked up

Anybody ever use animal bedding chips? I got a big bag left over from a beagle I had outside and kids hamsters. It's cedar, so I figure it was my backup to when the original bag was out.

Deer have no idea there isn't mesquite growing in Washington County... Same as elk have no idea there isn't hickory growing in New Mexico. But, I hate mesquite, gives me a headache.
Hoot, I might just do that monday or tuesday, maybe get Ellen to ride along.
