Set my alarm with optimism. Unfortunately, the 11pm phone call with a truck having issues delayed my bed time last night. Got to bed around 1230. Slept like crap. Got up with alarm at 4am. Thought about the cold, and turned off the alarm. haha

Good luck out there today fellas!

Sorry bout your miss teej. At least it was a clean miss.

I am fairly certain there are more hunters in Highland county now then there are deer. Looks like its going to be another deerless weekend. At least I can look at the two blobs of orange siting right on the property line. Back out this evening. Good luck fellers.

So got down to investigate the crime scene. Found my arrow, broken as so:

I couldn't find the other half and all I found was maybe 1-2dozen white hairs. She bounded off with her tail up at first it was a scramble sprint but then she just jogged off. I searched for blood and the rest of the arrow for 45 minutes and nothing. I remember the string hitting my sleeve a bit and my bow sounded funny(it's a fairly quiet bow) and I looked at the nock and it's almost halfway out of the arrow:

Never been more confused lol

Hairs but no blood? Boy seeing an arrow broke off there makes me think you hit her and the rest is in her? Unless like Jesse said, had to have hit a tree behind her?

No tree, maybe a root but I can't confirm since I couldn't find the rest. And the hair was white not a brown hair in the group. There wasn't any hair or blood on the broken shaft. After I did the search at the shot I followed the trail she went for bout 300yds and found nothing. She had her tail up and she was just jogging up the trail the last I saw her.

Took the landowner's son out where I do a little hunting this afternoon. Took all of 30 minutes for a nice doe to pop out in front of us. He whiffed the first shot but reloaded the 410 quick and dusted her with shot #2. He was pretty pumped. It was his first deer.

Congrats on a deed which did not go without reward Mao! Don't let Mao's Beard take the credit here. You deserve an attaboy for taking the young man hunting!

Nice work Marcus!

I'm out with my buddy right now on our farm. It's a dry run for late season. We're in two observation sets overlooking lots of food. I'm confident we'll see deer if the little orange blobs don't have them all out of whack!

Good job Mao. I went out this morning and absolutely froze my toes and fingers off. I didn't see any deer either.

Mason and I went squirrel hunting this evening. Killed one at last light. Did not see or hear any deer. Did not hear a single shot...nothing. Squirrels were even hunkered down pretty tight. Nice night out, but sure seemed slow where we were.

Congratulations to the youngsters that got out and had a little luck!
