The TOO Live Hunt and Recap Thread: 2013 Edition

Heading back today to hopefully see the big 10 point we saw a few weeks back and get my boss to get his fist deer ever!

Thanks guys! We got down about 7:20 which was just a little early but since this was her first time there was no way I was taking the chance of getting stuck in the tree with deer around us with it getting darker. Most importantly though was her being able to see all the steps on her descent. We got out with out boogering or seeing any deer which is a plus. We both had a great time.
Once we got back to the truck after the 400 yard walk we both loaded up on Gatorade and water as we only had one bottle of water between us in the stand.(my bad...lol)
Before I started the truck to leave I looked at her and said, Well, how did you like it? She smiled and said, I loved it! I'm officially a "deer hunter!"
I'm still riding high......:smiley_coolpeace:

Priceless stuff right there. Hope this is the first of Many More To Come.

Here's my view from the ground blind

Good luck to you and your son Mike!

Ric, glad your daughter enjoyed her first hunt, despite the lack of sightings. When a newcomer has the right attitude about hunting, it can make for a very enjoyable experience! You've done well!

Thanks Greg.

Currently I'm under attack by a swarm of blood suckers!!!! Left my therma cell at home! I mean a hundred of the sumbitches!!!

This is the very first time ever I've hunted this pinch point between a huge cornfield and a really steep crick bank this early in the season. The wind is blowing out of the SE(standing cornfield to me).
It was a long sweaty walk for me this morning that covered at least a 1/2 mile. Had a small doe walk out in front of me half way to my stand at about 18 yards and had no idea I was there.

Didn't get to my stand till 7:30 but didn't see or booger anything either.

Good luck to those out hunting this morning.

Good luck to all of you, especially the youth that are out there.

Was planning on doing a morning sit, but got a phone call to rescue a few of my drunk buddies last night at 2:45. Guess I would rather give up a morning hunt than hear about them getting in a accident and dieing or killing someone else.

Going to go pull a set I haven't hunted for a while so that we have enough sticks and stands for Strouds.

Kody and I were supposed to go this morning. He changed his mind when I tried to wake him up. Normally I'd push the issue, but 100% humidity and 70 degree temps at 7:00 am made my pussy swell and I went back to bed. Ric's skeeter experience this morning confirmed my decision. Lol

There will be better mornings coming. This heat has to snap soon.

Good luck to everyone out there! Hope you brought your sunblock.

I decided against it myself this morning. I got off work early yesterday and thought i would sit at Delaware for a change. It was along the way home. I was sweating before I even started walking in. By the time i got 100 yards into the woods, I was dripping with sweat, and had at least a dozen skeeter bites on each of my arms, and prolly a dozen more on my neck and face. saw the conditions were going to be similar this morning and didnt even bother to set the alarm.

humidity is supposed to clear out later, i might get out for a bit if it does.

Well, we got down-poured on so we're down now. He had to take a crap TOO.:smiley_boos:

I'm still hunting. Skeeters have since left for the most part with the exception of a few! Had a big fox squirrel barking at me 10 yards away for 30 minutes which is always enjoyable:-/!

Haven't heard or seen a deer from my stand yet. I've heard a leaf blower and tractor running on a neighboring property about 200 yards away across a small hollow. That's always nice TOO.... Ugh

Gonna give it till at least 10:30-11:00, I got mowing to do.....again...ugh

Rain moved past Seville area and it has dropped the humidity big time. If I wasn't working this afternoon my butt would be in a stand or blind this afternoon.
