The technology definitely has changed. We had a Trex deck put in last summer/fall. Love it. No maintenance.

Jesse, I wouldn’t want to smell dog shit/piss while trying to enjoy my deck. I like the idea, just not sure if it would be worth it to me. I’d rather take up space somewhere else. I don’t enjoy smelling poo, for damn sure don’t want it next to my grill.
Couple things to note as I don't disagree, but will also not let that happen. One, regular kennel cleaning, which will be a part of my weekly chores. Two, the deck to the left doesn't see much leisure time. The patio between that deck and the deck off the master is where that type of activity will take place. Three, this solves the dog shit all over the yard problem, which prevents a kid from stepping in it. I'll trade the potential for smell over that outcome. The last reason of note is convenience. I don't want to put boots on and walk out into the elements to put dogs in a kennel. I'm looking for efficiency and ease of use for daily ops.
I had K shoveling shit every other day from the last kennel and that will continue. Plus with concrete, I can wash it. Definitely a valid point, but if I can't mitigate it, that's on me and not the dogs.

Sounds like a good plan buddy. The best kennel I've seen had a sloped concrete pad with a concrete trough exactly the width of a flat blade shovel outside the fence. This way he could spray the shit to the trough then run a shovel down it. Granted it was for 6 hunting dogs that produced way more shit though. Lol.

Dogs aside the house long term may not be viable for your vinyl siding.
You may consider a one foot buffer with a take down back fence/wall for the annual exterior house cleaning.

Something you could consider is making a longer run to a pen further out away from the house. Just a thought anyways even though your plan sounds good. That is basically what we did, made a run out the side of the deck to a larger pen where the dogs head to do their business.
I'd almost rather do that, Chuck. However my lot is only 100' wide right here and a long run located where it would need to be, cuts off my ability to get a vehicle through the backyard to the barn. We have 11 acres, but it's LONG, not wide.

Not exactly sure how you our arranging things. However generally speaking a dog will crap and piss as far away from his house and food. If you put both of those at one end they generally will go at the other end. Keeping this in mind with your design may make cleanup easier and farther away for smell purposes.
