I prefer to work out right after I get home from work. That way I can sneak in a protien shake or some tuna before I hit it.

diet is key. I would do a protien shake in the morning, 10am can of tuna anda protien shake 12 lunch, 2:00 can of tuna and a protien shake, get home and eat a salmon patty, hit the gym, protien shake after that, dinner, then protien shake before bed.

That was when I was getting pretty big. I was 185-190 and went to 205 and was strong as an ox. thats not the diet you want to do if you are trying lean out.

Be careful eating that much canned tuna. It can cause mercury poisoning and that ain't good!!!

Had a hell of a cardio workout last night playing pick up basketball for two hours. I feel pretty good today with the exception of my right knee. I drove the lane and collided with someone and hyperextended it a little. Fortunately, I had my brace on. I figure it will be sore for a few days and I'll be ready to hit the gym again Monday! I developed a workout routine yesterday based on a 3-day a week schedule. Should help me burn fat and tone up. Everything is light weight and high reps with cardio being the biggest time consumer. I'm not concerned with bulking up these days. With a 6'1" frame and feeling comfortable around 205, I'm plenty big enough to work on the farm, drag deer, or hit the ball out of the park this summer!

With a 6'1" frame and feeling comfortable around 205,

This will show you how fucked up our nanny state government is:

According the US Dept. Of Health and Human Services, you will be overweight and nearly obese at 205 lb. At your current weight (230, if I recall) you are obese. At my height I would have to weigh in at 204 lbs just to be right within "normal weight."

These numbers are impossible, dumb, and only work if you throw out individuality of a person.

YES THOSE GOVERNMENT NUMBERS ARE REDICULOUS....

I have heard about mercury poisoning etc, before. I ate like that for 6 months straight and never got mercurcy poisoning. Has this actually happened to anyone?

Yes. It is rare, but it is possible...

I agree that the government numbers are ridiculous. With my shoulder width and chest width, I'm best around 205 IMO. Even at 230, I would say I'm a long ways from obese!!! Hell, if you weighed 204 you would be skin and bones! It's all about you and what you feel comfortable with. For me, I felt best when I was right around 205 back in college. At that time, I was lifting and running regularly and considered myself in good shape. So that is why I choose it as my target weight...

Put in 31 minutes for 3.5 miles, plus a 2 minute warm up and 5 minute cool down. Burned about 460 calories according to the mil.

This is also when your Testosterone levels are the highest. Ive been trying to run twice a week and lift twice a week. My lifting has been cut wayyyy back do to shoulder issues, when I hit my forties everything started falling apart LOL... It was awesome when I could go in the gym and lift like hell, do what ever lifts I wanted, and walk out with no pain or soreness...
Since I hit my forties I mostly do cardio, I try to run about 3 5k's each summer which keeps me motivated enough to do the training I do today and gives me the T-shirt to prove it......

It's been a tough week. I've been pretty sick and slimed my way through a few work outs. I also have been eating like shit too. I did manage to run the other day and was shocked when I ran three miles in 23:10 (I'm a slow runner so that's good for me). It was on a treadmill (with a one percent incline) so that's kinda cheating, but I was still shocked. Yesterday I did a quick back and leg work out, but went light. We were supposed to go night skiing tonight, but the wind is going to be around 30 mph so we're holding off and making a day trip on Monday (I've got a four day weekend). I'll probably go to the gym today, even though I'm sick as hell, but I'll take it light. I REALLY need to get my diet in check though. That's probably the most important piece of puzzle.

Hang in there, Chuck. (I know you will, I just felt obligated to say that. :) ) Hope you feel better soon.

Yesterday ended up being my day off because of the wrestling meet, which we won btw! Went to Applebees post meet to celebrate the win (we had to give up around 6 forfeits - so that made the victory even sweeter) I ate one of the 550 calorie meals, but drank 3 tall Mich Ultras too. As far as calorie consumption for the day goes I think I was still good. Anyhow, I know I'm rambling...

Did BL wii this morning, and am either going to take a hike or go to the gym later. Good day, all!

Thanks

Today was horrible. I did a quick circuit session of two chest exercises, abs, and biceps. Then I "tried" to run for 45 minutes, but about 8 minutes into it I knew today wasn't going to be a good day. I ended up only doing 3.5 in 32 MINUTES!!! That's pretty shitty for a Marine. I'm still sick so that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Week 1 is in the books. I started my workout program today and busted ass for 90 minutes. Post workout weigh-in was 226.0, so I lost 4 pounds in the first week. I designed my own full body workout focused on weight loss and toning up. I'll post it up later. Basically a 3-day a week program heavy on reps and cardio. My short term goal is to be 115 for my alumni basketball tournament in 2 months.

I gotta admit, I feel great right now!!!

Lifted for 25 minutes, got a solid upper body workout in. Not the weight I was doing a month ago, but enough. Did full reps for all my sets but my arms were hurting. I do a circuit workout and go from machine to machine... And then did 11 minutes or 3.1 miles on the stationary bike.

Gonna hurt after my shower! I think I'm going do a two or three week stint on protein to get my muscle base back, then cut to halves, then burn fat, burn baby burn
