11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023: '12/14/23 - New Cellular Trail Camera & 🦌 Overnight'

ab691ccb-b68c-47b3-b0fd-bd0d57e62801.jpg

Mornin!

Today's latest update.

Video description:

This is a quick update of the deer from overnight within the immediate area, plus a brand new Tactacam Reveal XB trail camera was purchased and placed the other day, during the afternoon of the 11th, at the main creek.

What deer remained within the immediate area after 'gun week' appear to be doing just fine and our woods have definitely thinned out, now having to deal with minimal cover during the winter.

The spike in the video appears to be either injured or born with a birth defect. His right rear leg, ankle and hoof seemed to be 'NOT RIGHT', and I feel for the little guy! He's a recent newcomer that showed up during gun season and has become a regular visitor daily, multiple times, ever since.

I'm patiently waiting for the mature bucks to start showing up again, and if or when they do, that's when I'll start archery hunting once again. Until then, I'll try to provide status update videos such as this one every now and then.

I hope you enjoy today's video and thank you for reading/watching!

The very reason for the ground blind being placed today.

The main creek will be 100% cleared out by E.O.D. today, also, before the heavy rains get here. 😁

Cleared the creeks from being jammed up from storm/flood large tree debris and some deerz @theotherfarm this evening. No legal daylight time of TC captures at home today.

The last of the large tree debris was a water logged big Black Walnut tree that came from across the road to the west, approximately 1000 plus yards away from were it finally ended up at, on our side of the road, causing the ,main creek to jam/damn up. Something that I must take care of every year before any heavy rain event.

There's some more smaller chucks of firewood down in that creek bottom that I'll gather up tomorrow sometime before I give the total job my final stamp of approval of completion. Other than that, the whole place is in pretty good shape now, which means I'll be gearing/stepping up my hunting game for the rest of the hunting season.

The other farm appears to be getting busy once again. Below are some TC captures from that place this evening. I may sneak out tomorrow for doe patrol at that place with the shotgun tomorrow. We'll see how the morning goes around here at home first.

I have no plans on hunting this weekend, so I'll be winging it all weekend long, making myself available for a guest hunt on Sunday as a priority.

7:00 a.m., Sunday, December 17, 2023: 'Bonus Gun Weekend'

1000026175.jpg

I heard multiple shots yesterday in the area. Two of them were fairly close, which has me a little concerned this morning because I have not seen '💎' since yesterday at 6:30 a.m. He is a daily visitor and him not showing up is not his normal routine. So, I hope that he's okay and shows up later today.

I have not hunted since 'gun week' and I have no plans on hunting today, however I'm expecting some quests this afternoon and they intend on doing an evening hunt . Not sure when I'll get out next, but it should be soon. I'm missing stand time!

The follow are some of the better TC captures from overnight. It was fairly steady throughout the night with deer and other wildlife, but not nearly as busy as it has been over the past week or so. I'm expecting things to snap back to normal activities after this wet weather moves out of the area.

1:30 p.m., Monday, December 18, 2023: 'Guest Youth Deer Gun Hunt, plus more'

20231218_130856.jpg

About 15 minutes ago in Ross Co.

The latest of what has happened within my neck of the woods, or an update from yesterday's guest hunt at our place.

Be safe out there today if you're out and about driving!

Take care!!

Video description:

A planned youth quest gun hunt happened yesterday evening at our place. Although the young man was unsuccessful because he got skunked. According to what I was told, he wishes to do another hunt at our place and I'm thrilled to hear it!

The deer didn't play the script, but shortly after the fellas finished up, the deer started to arrive and stayed throughout most of the night and up into the early morning hours.

A cool winter weather front is passing through and I believe it has awakened the more mature bucks in the area. I've been waiting patiently on them to start returning and there's one that might be in the area still today.

I intend on getting out later this afternoon for an evening hunt, hoping that I'll catch up with 'LEFTY' today. He's a buck that I have at least a four year history with. He's a big bodied deer, and I have had multiple encounters with him over the years. I almost shot him two years ago because of his impressive body size, but didn't once I fully recognized who he was. He got another free pass at the time. He will not get one next time.

I have full intentions of continuing to assist in any way possible for the youth hunter to successfully harvest a good buck before the season comes to a close for the year. As long as the young man has the will and drive to press-on, I'll continue to make my place available for him, hoping that he'll achieve a buck harvest that he'll be happy with.

I hope you enjoy today's video of a youth quest deer gun hunt from out of a pop-up ground blind at one of the nearby creeks.

Thanks for reading/watching!

8:00 a.m.. Wednesday, January 3, 2024: 'Deer Overnight'

UBox_IMG_20240103_07485757_3_106_.jpg

Mornin!

I put this together a little bit ago, which is the latest information of what I have goin on in my neck of the woods.

Video description:

Some of the deer that stepped in front of a trail camera last night from yesterday's sunset until dawn this morning, January 3, 2024. Looking forward to Muzzleloader Season, which starts Saturday January 6 thru the 9th, 2024.

I'll be hunting with my old Knight out of a pop-up ground blind for the first hunt on Saturday, and then play everything by ear after that. Hope to harvest my first antlered muzzy buck this year. Fingers crossed!

I hope you enjoy today's latest video, which shows some of the deer in the area overnight at our place.

Good luck to all hunters this weekend!

Thank you for reading and watching!

7::00 a.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024: 'Deer Overnight'

b31343a0-306f-42ae-af30-fde8e2cb48f4.jpg

Good morning!

I made this video yesterday, which is a snapshot of the local deer activity inside my neck of the woods overnight. Most of the younger bucks have shed or show signs of shedding. All in all, things are looking good for the deer in the area. Looking forward to the new additions later on in the year. I'm done deer hunting myself for the season. I did not harvest any deer in the the 2023/2024 hunting season even though I have had several opportunities to do so. None of the deer that I encountered tripped my trigger, so onto the next season for me.

Congratulations to all the successful deer hunting 'TOO' members that got the job done!!!

I hope you enjoy my sharing and thanks for reading & watching!
