Just an update: I started a few months ago on giving up soda, cutting alot of sweets, and getting a bit more excercise. My last weigh in in December was 241lbs. Yesterday I had a Dr. checkup and weighed in at 221 pounds. My insurance company sent me my goals for our checkups in September and it was to be at 227 lbs, so im beyond that. My buddies and I are starting our weekly Basketball games back up next week, so I imagine it's only gonna continue. Oh, my BP was down to 110/80. It was 135/80 last time.

I was figuring some stuff up and I've been to my new gym 55 times in the last 116 day, or roughly every other day. My goal is 3 or 4 days a week, so I'm hitting that almost exactly. The last 2 weeks I've been trying to hit it harder with a bigger emphasis on cardio. I guess it's still a battle when I see fools sprinting on the treadmill but I normally just work up to a very fast walk with some incline and then go for 30 minutes...I want to be conditioned for early morning walks to the tree stand, not run a marathon!

It's about $1.50 every time I go to the gym with my membership and how I've been using it, so I think I can feel pretty good about that too!

It's also been 2 weeks of me trying to eat healthier and it's worked out pretty well. I've been drinking a 190 calorie protein shake for breakfast in the morning which hits my goal of being consistent. I have a few pretzels mid morning, a peanut butter and jelly for lunch and a lot of fruit, and then salad and something for dinner with trying to eat less carb breads than before. It's not rocket science - just trying to eat less -and it's hard on the weekends, but I am starting to think I see/feel a difference. I have never been a calorie counter before and it's interesting to think about how much less I'm eating while getting full on rabbit food. We'll see what happens!

Beener mentioned this to me and I think it sounds like a good idea since I know there are a few others on here that are in the same boat as he and I. So in an effort to spur each other on, we are going to do a TOO Biggest Loser for the remainder of 2014. We'll do it based on percentage of weight lost. In other words if I'm 200 pounds and I lose 25 pounds, I lost 12.5%. Winner gets a $50 Cabelas gift card and bragging rights! Ready... GO!

--------------------

I'm 240 right now and that is the heaviest I've ever been. Straight fat fuck. :smiley_blackeye: My goal is to get down to 210 and maintain that level. This will be the 4th time in 10 years I've lost 20-30 pounds. I'm tired of the seesaw action and hope to eliminate that going forward. I'll check in once a week with updates. Today marks Day 1 for me.

So this is running through December?

Sounds like a plan to me. May wanna start a new thread as it may spark more interest than continuing this one? People seem to skip over older/longer threads. Going to hop on the scale now...265.5 pounds. I was at 274.4 last week. I will take 9 pounds a week ;)

Through December. I stuck this thread, so it'll be at the top now. I'll jazz up the title.

One of the things I plan on doing is loading down a backpack with 50 pounds and walking during my lunch break. Lots of good hills, including a killer one a mile down the road. I'm focusing on stuff that I don't have to go to the gym to do...

Funny thing. At 265 or 230 I wear just about the same size, just a little snug now. I know I will never be skinny. At my fittest I was 215 and a 34" waist. Just a good all around athlete...I will never be there again.

Goal is to be 220, benching 300 (5x5) and be able to do 3 miles in under 21 minutes. The running is the hard part. Just don't like to run without purpose (chasing someone or someone chasing me).

Just hopped on the scale. Oh boy, 286.8. Heaviest weight ever. Most caused by food and beer intake and little activity sitting behind a sales desk for 9 hours a day. I have a metabolism of a turtle too which doesn't help.

Thanks for the motivation. I usually run about 265# during the summer but I haven't really been outside since gun season ended. Spring ball can't get here fast enough. There will a fat coach trying to field grounders to start the season. :smiley_blackeye:

Tough one giving up the beer though. I have a couple every night for happy hour. If I cut meals in half and gave up beer I'd probably be a sleek as Jesse. Got a ways to go though.

I'll start fresh tomorrow morning.

I just bought 4 pairs of jeans yesterday. I better save the receipt in case I need to return a couple pair. Fingers crossed.

I am weighing 197-200. Cant seem to shake it. The good thing is I am working out 6 days a week. I am going to start running again after the weather breaks. I cant run in the gym. Its too boring to me. Plus I feel like I cant breathe. So I am just lifting. I feel a ton better. Takign a good testosterone booster, pre-workout, fat burner, vitamins, and protien. My back doesnt hurt anymore, I have nmore energy during the day. Just overall feel better. I hope to keep it up and look pretty decent by summertime.

I'm in. I'm probably real close to the 250-255 mark now, all from sitting on my ass all day at work and then going home and sitting on my ass all evening. I feel my best at 210-215 so that will be my goal. With another little one on the way I need all the extra energy I can get, and losing 30-40 lbs will really help with that. I plan on starting fresh on Monday as the wife and I have dinner plans this weekend.... best of luck to everyone!

Sounds like plenty of us are in the same boat, so we got a good support group already!

Indeed....word to the wise for the younger guys. I'll be 43 this year.

Ever since I was around 30 years old (got married at 29.9, hum...) I'd add a few pounds each year. I'd never go downward.

....and here we are today.

As my Doctor told me, "You didn't put your weight on overnight. It's been a slow and steady annual increase." Thus it's supposed to come off the very same way I put it on.
Less rebound effects too as one's body adjusts to weight loss.

....sort of like you 30 somethings are close to your high school weight, right?

I'm going the wrong way and it's got to stop.

It wont do me much good to get in, but i will enjoy watching you guys reach your goals. I stay pretty close to 180 with a short workout with weights a couple times a week and 20-30 minutes of cardio 2 to 3 times a week with the elipitical or treadmill.
Beener, I like your goal of 300 on the bench and sub 21min 3miler. I hurt to bad if I try and increase my bench at my age, I set a goal at 40 to just try and maintain 225 for 3 sets of 8-10 and 25min 5k's, and right now I need to work on my running but as long as my shoulder doesnt start hurting again Im holding my goal on the bench. Good luck guys and keep posting your progress, its fuels everybody else to meet their goals.
