Found out that our insurance is going up to 410 dollars a month starting the 1st of the year, AND I get to pay a 50 dollar a month surcharge on top of that for being a tobacco user for the whole year of 2014! no advanced warning or nothing, if you used any tobacco product more than 5 times since Jan 1st 2013 you must pay this, if "false" information is provided then disciplinary action will be taken to include termination of employment.

Didn't get to go back out. Had to move a full bedroom suit that we inherited from my wife's grandma. Missing the hunt doesn't bother me, its the fact that on the way to our house I saw more deer driving than I have all week from the stand.

AGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

..... Welcome too obamacare.....

Speaking of Obamacare, being a small business with a handful of employees we offer health care through a contracted insurance company.
Our insurance is paid by a 50/50 split between the employer/employee.
We recently got a notice from our insurance company that they are dropping us in 2014.
Now as a business we need to find affordable health care. I guess Obama is forcing the hand that we furnish our insurance needs through Obamacare.
Health care is our fourth largest expense following, inventory, payroll, and freight.

But I thought all this stuff was free

Its not free yet.

Health insurance premiums for one employee with family of four, plus one life insurance policy carries the premium of about $ 17K per year. We have 4-5 families using our insurance plan.

Perhaps ObamaCare is a less expensive outlet since our current insurance company can no longer compete with what's forthcoming.

We have some homework to do for alternative options.

did they drop you because the ACA defines what is a sub-standard plan? you know they have to do that by law

No explanation provided however if we wish for them to handle life, eye, and dental needs then we need to seek a requote.
Appears they dropped the medical insurance all together effective October 2014.

I looked up the ACA and this appears to be the case. The majority of our company is comprised of self employed partners and their families.

Fortunately, my insurance is covered through my wife being a teacher (until she retires someday then I'm SOL).

Well, got a call about midnight Saturday night that the EMS was on it's way to pick up Dad. He was really low on oxygen and was disoriented a bit and fell. As soon as they gave him some oxygen he got better. The wife and I decided to make the drive to the ER. Dad had a smile when I walked in and kinda laughed it off. I could tell it scared him though. Mom told me he said this to her later. All the test's came back ok except the lung xrays showed a bit more deterioration, so they are moving up his appointments to see how fast this stuff is progressing
